    • A device for erasing an image on a sheet includes a reading unit that reads an image formed on a sheet. An erasing unit erases the image formed on the sheet by heating the sheet after the sheet has passed through the reading unit. A conveyance path conveys the sheet from the erasing unit back to the reading unit. The conveyance path includes a curved portion between the erasing unit and the reading unit. A cooling unit cools the sheet which passes through the conveyance path. The cooling unit includes at least one fan that supplies cooling air generally along a sheet conveying direction. A rate of the cooling air supplied to an outer peripheral portion of the curved portion of the conveyance path is larger than a rate of the cooling air supplied to an inner peripheral portion of the curved portion of the conveyance path.

    • There is described an image forming apparatus, which forms high quality images free from a phenomenon of inter-sheet adhesion. The image forming apparatus includes a conveyance section to convey the transfer material along a conveying path; a cooling device disposed along the conveying path to cool the transfer material just after the toner image is fixed with heat; a controller-to control the conveyance section and the cooling device; and a first transfer-material detecting device disposed at a position adjacent to and upstream from the cooling device, in order to detect the transfer material coming into the conveying path. When the first transfer-material detecting device detects the transfer material coming, the controller controls the conveyance section to decelerate a conveyance velocity of the transfer material to a decelerated velocity lower than a normal conveyance velocity, so that the transfer material passes through the conveying path at the decelerated velocity.

    • The present invention aims to provide an image enhancement device of a thermal printer which can obtain a corrected image with high quality even if quantity of thermal storage to obtain recording density necessary for target gradation data is excessive or insufficient due to thermal history. The image enhancement device of the thermal printer according to the present invention includes: a thermal storage quantity computing unit for computing quantity of thermal storage which affects a heater element of a thermal head using past record; a thermal storage quantity memory unit for storing the quantity of thermal storage computed; a threshold value table having a threshold value which is determined based on input data; a thermal storage quantity discriminating unit for comparing the quantity of thermal storage with the threshold value of the threshold value table; and a correction quantity computing unit for computing correction quantity from the quantity of thermal storage according to comparison result, for obtaining subtraction correction data by subtracting the correction quantity from the input data when the quantity of thermal storage is greater than the threshold value, and for obtaining addition correction data by adding the correction quantity to the input data when the quantity of thermal storage is equal to or less than the threshold value.

    • A laser printer produces an image of raster scan lines exhibiting a pitch distance p. The printer includes a photoreceptor and n laser sources, where n.gtoreq.2. First and second sets of laser sources, in one embodiment, produce plural optical beams which, when imaged on the photoreceptor, are separated by pitch distance p in the direction of movement of the photoreceptor. The first set and second sets of laser sources are separated by a distance S.sub.PR =c(1+qr)p, where: c=number of laser sources in each set, q=an integer, and r=number of rows of laser sources in both the first and second sets. The optical beams are modulated with pixel value data in accordance with a correspondence of image scan lines and positions of the optical beams on the photoreceptor. The photoreceptor is moved by a distance (q.multidot.c.multidot.r)p between scans. In such manner, an interleaving of the scan lines is achieved, which allows substantial separation of laser diodes on a laser diode chip.
