    • A broach tool and a broach insert for chip removing machining of metals are provided. The broach tool includes an elongate holder and at least one cutting unit. The holder comprises at least one recess for the receipt of the cutting unit. The broach tool has a feeding direction. The broach tool includes clamping members for each cutting unit. Each clamping member is arranged in front of the cutting unit in the feeding direction. The cutting unit is a replaceable broach insert including a base part and a cutting part. A notch is formed centrally in a rear side surface of the broach insert. The recess includes a rear wall formed with a projection, the cross section of which is U-shaped and includes arms. The arms are arranged to be elastically deformed by the notch.

    • Disclosed is an apparatus for defining a bending or welding groove in a cutting blade. A pair of fixed blocks are fixed to a base of a cutting blade forming apparatus. A slider is slidably coupled to each fixed block, and a bit support block is slidably coupled to the slider. The slider and the bit support block are respectively operated by first and second operating mechanisms. First through fourth guide parts are formed on the fixed block, slider and bit support block, to constitute dovetail joints. The first guide parts of the fixed blocks and second guide parts of sliders are formed to have a slope, such that, as the sliders are lowered, they are horizontally moved toward each other. A lower portion of a broaching bit is formed as a supporting surface, and at least one broaching edge portion is formed above the supporting surface portion.

    • The invention is basically a device that allows an individual to align the broaching tool more accurately. The invention begins with a base plate that is attached to the retriever base or puller head of the broach machine. Within the base plate is a large broach stick opening through which the retriever end or the puller end of the broach tool is placed. Attached to the base plates are four rails around the large openings. The adjustment plate is a plate that fits on top of the base plate and within the area created by the four rails. In the center of the adjustment plate is a large opening for the attachment of the retriever end or puller end of the broach tool. Also the adjustment plate has openings for attachment through bolts to the base plate. In the four rails there are also openings for set screws that pass through the rails and make contact with the adjustment plate fit within the area created by the rails. These set screws allow the retriever plate to be adjusted in all directions perpendicular to the broach. Once the broach tool is fully adjusted the adjustment plate bolts that attach it to the base plate are tighten down to hold that adjustment plate in place. The adjustment plate can be easily readjusted by loosening up the bolts that hold the adjustment plate to the base plate and making the adjustment with the four sets of set screws.

    • A turn broaching machine for broaching a workpiece comprises a hollow arbor having a plurality of axially spaced apart, circumferentially extending cutting segments projecting radially outwardly from the side wall thereof. The cutting segments each have a radially outer peripheral edge provided with broaching elements. A closed loop system circulates a heated fluid through the arbor. The fluid is heated to an elevated temperature of about 100 F.-150 F. to maintain the arbor in a similarly heated condition during broaching. Maintaining the arbor at a relatively constant, elevated temperature during broaching stabilizes the broach by eliminating axial thermal expansion.

    • A coolant distribution system in which coolant is introduced through the workholder in a broaching operation to lubricate the surfaces where the workpiece is in contact with the broach, to dissipate heat generated by the broaching action and to flush away chips. The workholder is an elongated arbor having a chuck for gripping the workpiece. A fluid passage for coolant extends through the arbor and has a first set of outlets for emitting coolant adjacent to the workpiece and a second set of outlets for emitting coolant through a pilot on the end of the arbor. The second set of outlets when the pilot enters a guide as it approaches the broach, causing an increased volume of coolant to flow from the first set of outlets.
