    • An electrostatic air filter connected to a high voltage source, comprising an air flow channel (1) having an inlet and an outlet, in which at the side of the air inlet there is an ion generator (2) comprising at least one corona electrode (3) and at least one cumulative electrode (4), both the corona electrodes (3) and the cumulative electrodes (4) being electrically connected to each other, while the cumulative electrodes (4) are insulated from the corona electrodes (3), so that corona discharges may occur between the corona electrodes (3) and the cumulative electrodes (4) due to a potential difference (U1), causing the ionisation of contaminant particles present in the air flowing through the channel (1), characterised in that behind the ion generator (2) in the air flow channel (1) there is a separator of contaminant particles (6) comprising an input electrode (7) and an output electrode (8) spaced apart from it, both these electrodes enabling the flow of air through them in a direction away from the input electrode (7) to the output electrode (8) and further to the channel outlet (1), while during the work of the filter between the corona electrodes (3) and the input electrode (7) there is a potential difference (U2) and between the input electrode (7) and the output electrode (8) there is a potential difference (U3), so that the electric field strength in the space (9) between the input electrode (7) and the output electrode (8) is directed opposite to the electric field strength in the space (15) between the ion generator (2) and the input electrode (7).

    • [Object of the Invention] An object of the present invention is to develop an air curtain device generating parallel air flow based on the knowledge in that parallel air flow generated at the outlet of a turbulent flow runup zone does not include vortex flows and has strong air current interruption performance.[Disclosure of the Invention] An air curtain device comprises a first ventilation box comprising a discharge elbow provided with guide vanes, a honeycomb, an industrial use ventilating fan, a suction elbow provided with guide vanes, and a pre-filter, wherein the aforesaid elements are sequentially accommodated in a rectangular box whose one side surface is open and an outlet port of the discharge elbow provided with guide vanes and the pre-filter are disposed on the open side surface of the rectangular box, and a second ventilation box of the same structure as the first ventilation box, wherein the first ventilation box is put on an entrance floor with the discharge elbow provided with guide vanes above, and the second ventilation box is put on the entrance floor with the discharge elbow provided with guide vanes below, so that the first ventilation box and the second ventilation box oppose each other at their open side surfaces in a mutually upside-down manner and the first ventilation box and the second ventilation box are distanced from each other by a breadth Xg of the entrance, and wherein an entrance ceiling is provided to a breadth equal to the distance between the ventilation boxes so as to connect a top of the first ventilation box with a top of the second ventilation box, thereby forming an air curtain device entrance, wherein relation between the breadth Xg of the entrance of the air curtain device and a breadth D of the outlet ports of the discharge elbows provided with guide vanes is set at Xg≦5D.

    • A process of treating a gas stream containing mercury is disclosed. The method comprises: applying a sorbent into said gas stream ahead of a particulate matter collection device, in order to adsorb at least a portion of a mercury containing compound, wherein said sorbent contains a composition comprising a compound having the following formula (SiO2)x(OH)yMzSaF: wherein M is at least one of the following metal or metalloid cations: boron, magnesium, aluminum, calcium, titanium, vanadium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, zirconium, molybdenum, palladium, silver, cadmium, tin, platinum, gold, and bismuth; wherein S is a sulfur-based species selected from at least one of the following: sulfide salts, dithiocarbamates, polymer-based dithiocarbamates, and polysulfide salts; wherein F optionally exists and said F is at least one of the following: a functionalized organosilane, a sulfur-containing organosilane, an amine-containing organosilane, and an alkyl-containing organosilane at a surface area coverage of 0.01-100%; and wherein the molar ratio of y/x is equal to 0.01-0.5, the molar ratio of x/z is equal to 3-300, and the molar ratio of a/z is 1-5.
