摘要： A system for serial communication may include a first device and a plurality of devices on a series connection. The first device may have a master circuit and the plurality devices may have a slave circuit. The master circuit may enable the first device to communicate with the plurality devices having the slave circuit on the series connection. The master circuit may enable the first device to send a command frame on the series connection. The command frame may include an execution mode command and a plurality of commands. The second devices may execute the commands within the command frame at or after the end of the command frame based on the execution mode command indicating a synchronous mode of command execution; and may execute the commands within the command frame at the ends of individual ones of the commands based on the execution mode command indicating a non-synchronous mode of command execution.

摘要： A system that uses pulse-based communication may include a first device and a plurality of devices on a series connection. The first device may have a master circuit and the plurality devices may have a slave circuit. The master circuit may enable the first device to communicate with the plurality devices having the slave circuit on the series connection. The master circuit may enable the first device to send a pulse string including one or more pulses to the plurality devices. The slave circuit may enable the plurality devices to receive the pulse string from a previous device on the series connection and change the pulse string. The slave circuit may enable the plurality devices to send the pulse string to a next device on the series connection. Each of the plurality devices may determine its address in the series connection based on the pulse string it receives.

摘要： Method and apparatus for controlling the same functions of a networked printer that can be manually selected from the front panel of the printer, but remotely through an interactive network board connectable to the printer via a bi-directional printer interface and connectable to a local area network via a local area network interface. A printer status request, for example, from an administrator's console, is issued on the local area network and directed to the interactive network board to cause the board to interrogate the printer over the printer interface for the status of the manually selectable functions, and to transfer the status of those manually selectable functions from the board onto the local area network. A command to alter the status of those manually selectable functions is issued on the local area network and directed to the interactive board, the command causing the board to transfer the altered status to the printer via the printer interface, whereupon the printer status for the manually selectable functions is altered.

摘要： An input/output interface switching apparatus for switching I/O interfaces connecting I/O control units between channels. A matrix of transistor cross-point switches is provided for attaching one or more strings of control units to one or more channels. These strings of control unit are switched between the channels under configuration control. The cross-points are arranged so that a single failure within one interface affects at most only the channel to which the interface is associated. The switching matrix is physically centralized to minimize the number of I/O interface cables and connectors. The switching functions are, however, logically decentralized from a reliability standpoint so that a single component failure does not result in total switching system failure.

At the transmitting end, a silence interval is detected by a voice detector, and a selector is controlled so that a PN pattern, with a start signal and an end signal appended at the start and end thereof, is substituted in the silence interval.
