    • Systems for connecting telecommunications infrastructure lines to telephones, handsets, computers, telecopy machines and other end user interfaces or consumer electronics devices in a residence or business. Systems according to the present invention include Network Control Units which form the center of a star topology and which communicate via RF link with Wireless Access Units and handsets. Wireless Access Units feature an interface, such as, for example, a standard telephone jack, for accommodating a telephone, a fax machine, a compute modem or other device. Computers or other devices may also be accommodated by Wireless Access Units having other physical and virtual interfaces, including, for instance, serial ports or network interfaces. The Wireless Access Units may also be digital to accommodate ISDN or any other digital standard. Wireless control/monitoring accessories may also be employed to communicate with the Network Control Unit and provide additional functionality such as entrance monitoring, baby monitoring, HVAC control and other services.

    • A small and economically fabricated CMOS voltage controlled crystal oscillator is provided by coupling three inverter amplifiers in series with a regenerative crystal controlled feedback loop. The first and second CMOS inverters have output nodes whose impedances are modified by a CMOS impedance modulating circuit. Also coupled to each of these two output nodes is a CMOS transistor shunt capacitor. The impedance of the output node is modified according to the magnitude of a voltage control signal applied to the CMOS modulating circuits. The self-bias of the modulating circuits is maintained substantially constant by adjusting the gate drive in each of the modulating circuits according to gate drives derived from a dummy modulating circuit. The dummy modulating circuit has as one input the voltage control signal and as its compensating gate drive, a control signal derived from a feedback loop from a dummy output node in such a manner that the self-bias of the dummy modulating circuit is maintained substantially constant. The compensating gate drive from the dummy modulating circuit is then coupled to the appropriate compensating gates within the impedance modulating circuits in the voltage controlled oscillator.

    • The present invention is directed to a control system which interfaces a plurality of telephones, referred to as extensions, to a central office telephone line. The control system includes a ring detector, a ring generator, a controller and a telephone extension bus. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, the control system is programmable to: (i) control the ringing function of a plurality of extensions when an incoming call is received; (ii) control the staging of the ringing function of a plurality of extensions when an incoming call is received; (iii) control the use of one or more of a plurality of extensions to initiate an outgoing call; (iv) control the use of one or more of a plurality of extensions when another extension is in-use, i.e. presently being used to engage in an ongoing telephone call; (v) control the use of one or more of a plurality of extensions when another extension is being used for a data call, i.e., a data transmission or communication between machines including, for example, facsimile machines and computers; and (vi) control access to a central office telephone line by one or more extensions when another extension is in-use.
