    • In a method for operating an electromechanical adjusting device, having an actuating part driven by a controller controlled motor, and which can be adjusted according to a manual specification for a controller operating element between a first and a second end position, the controller detects the precise position of a blockage of an adjusting movement from fed sensor signals, wherein user action performed on the operating element adjusts the actuating part by a first movement directed toward the end position to a position at which mechanical blockage occurs in order to determine a reference position, and adjusts the actuating part by a second movement into the second end position to examine the validity of the previously determined reference position by a test program which decides whether an automatic operating mode, in which an actuating process runs automatically, is activated, or blocked, as a function of the test result.

    • A high efficiency multi-phasic type DC motor incorporating brushless electronic switching to phase the attractive and repulsive forces between the permanent magnets in the rotor and wire wound air core coils in the stator. The unequal number of magnets and coils provides a designed imbalance, so that proper energization induces rotation and torque in the motor's dual flywheel rotor. Electronic switching collects inductive kickback and back emf simultaneously during the motor phase and in addition, disconnects the attraction and repulsion phases during regenerative braking, etc. and directs all this generated power back to the power pack where it is stored in batteries and capacitors. The rechargeable batteries and capacitors in the power pack are the source of operating electrical power for the motor. The rotating assembly is designed to have adequate mass so that the kinetic energy of rotation smooths out the pulsing moments introduced by the attraction and repulsion of the coils and magnets and to ensure continuous rotation of the dual flywheel rotor. The combination of electronic switching, the low hysteresis loss in the air core coils, the streamlined configuration of the rotor which reduces windage loss and the recovery of the generated currents in the air core coils contribute to the high efficiency of the electric DC motor.

    • A control apparatus suitable for use in a power window regulator is provided which has an electric motor for selectively moving a window glass in either one of two directions in which the window glass is fully closed and opened when an automode switch is first turned on. An energized state of the motor is held until the window glass reaches a position where it is fully closed or opened. The control apparatus comprises a capacitor, a holding circuit for holding the motor in an energized state during a period in which a detection voltage corresponding to a voltage applied across the capacitor is greater than a reference voltage, a cut-off circuit for discharging the electric charge stored in the capacitor in accordance with a predetermined time constant when a cut-off voltage exceeds an auxiliary reference voltage, and a clamping circuit for clamping the detection voltage to a constant voltage higher than the reference voltage when the discharge of the electric charge stored in the capacitor is initiated by the cut-off circuit. The cut-off circuit serves to clamp the detection voltage to the constant voltage higher than the reference voltage, and the time necessary to tighten the window glass corresponds to the period of time required to reduce the constant voltage thus clamped up to the reference voltage, thus achieving a constant period of time at all times.

    • A speed control system for electric vehicles for varying the applied voltage to a series wound traction motor to vary the speed thereof by dividing the main power source into a number of small units, which are then grouped and re-grouped through a series of relays actuated by a controller to provide several values of voltage from low to high voltage in an orderly progressive manner. The circuit is also provided with a ballast or surge-limiting resistor in each grouping and re-grouping, resulting in a smooth power flow and thus smooth speed change while at the same time limiting the battery drain to a safe maximum. The ballast resistor is automatically shunted out of the power circuit as the vehicle picks up speed, thereby providing an intermediate control point between each battery re-grouping step.
