    • An re-enterable enclosure for protecting a cable splice includes a first cover member, a second cover member, and a splice fixation member. The first and second cover members are configured to releasably engage each other and form a cavity for enclosing the cable splice. The cavity is filled with a sealant material for electrically insulating the cable splice and protecting the cable splice from the environment. The cable splice is attached to the fixation member and the cover members are closed around the fixation member and attached splice.

    • A protective splice case for communication cables includes two half tubular members and two cylindrical end seals. A composite material, in the form of a non-tacky, resilient and yieldable sealant non-releasably secured to an adhesive, is positioned between the two half members, with the adhesive contacting one of the two half members and the non-tacky sealant facing the other of the two half members. Also, the composite is positioned between the end seals and the half members, with the adhesive contacting the outer surfaces of the end seals and the non-tacky sealant facing the interior surfaces of the two half members. The result is a splice case which keeps the extraneous material such as water, dust, dirt and snow from reaching the interior of the splice case, and is yet reusable and reenterable for repairs and inspection.

    • The splice closure includes a tubular protective case having front and back covers. The left and right ends of the back cover are configured to form integrally therewith left rear and right rear half end seals, which are adapted to mate with separately-formed, left front and right front half end seals. Left front and right front half end seals are formed to fit inside the left and right ends of the front cover. The separately-formed, left front half end seal is secured to the integrally-formed, left rear half end seal, with a first set of cables clamped between the mating surfaces thereof. Likewise, the separately-formed, right front half end seal is secured to the integrally-formed, right rear half end seal, with a second set of cables clamped between the mating surfaces thereof. The two cables are spliced together and the front cover is bolted in place over the back cover/spliced cables/end seal assembly to form the protective case. Before the two covers are bolted together, a sealant is disposed between the mating surfaces of the front and back covers and between the outer surfaces of the separately-formed, left front and right front half end seals and the interior surfaces of the front cover to prevent extraneous material, such as water, dust, debris, snow, etc. from entering the protective case.

    • Cable closures and methods are provided for enclosing a cable. The cable closure includes two half shells together forming an enclosed space for housing a cable, and a sealing strip positioned between peripheral regions of the half shells, at least one of the shells having a removable portion to provide a cable entry port. A cable sealing device may be positioned at the cable entry port such that a seal is provided between the sealing strip and each half shell and a cable entering through the port.
