    • The present invention provides an electrical connector which is connected to wires extending from a circuit device, and which makes it possible to realize high contact reliability with mating members, and a method of assembling and connecting the electrical connector with circuit devices. Electrical wires are terminated at one end to male first terminals, the opposite ends of the wires are connected to a circuit device, and the lead out portions of the wires from the circuit device are subjected to a potting treatment. Afterward, the first terminals are accommodated inside the first housing member. The first terminals are placed in positions so as to be engaged with second terminals that have been accommodated inside the first housing member before hand. A second housing member is latched onto the first housing member and provides terminal support for the first terminals and strain relief for the electrical wires.

    • A plug blade structure comprises an enclosed section and an exposed section. The exposed section includes a wider front section and a narrower rear section. The enclosed section includes a shallow recess in a front end thereof for filling molten plastic material into the narrower rear section. A transverse through-hole extends from a face of the narrower rear section to the other face of the narrower rear section. A reinforcing guide slot is defined in the narrower rear section and communicated with the transverse through-hole. The transverse through-hole and the reinforcing guide slot guide the molten plastic material from a face of the narrower rear section to the other face of the narrower rear section such that the air on the faces of the metal blade can be well expelled to thereby allow smooth injection and that the resultant insulting layer formed on the narrower rear section has flush surfaces.

    • The present invention provides a connector assembly including a connector for use in electrically connecting a surgical instrument to a power source, such as a generator. The connector generally includes an outer shell with a plurality of first and second electrical conductors disposed within the outer shell for providing the electrical connection between the surgical instrument and a cable leading to the power source. In one aspect of the present invention, the connector includes an isolation barrier disposed within the outer shell so as to separate each of the first electrical conductors from each of the second electrical conductors. In another aspect, the connector includes a keying feature in which the outer surface of the outer shell is modified so as to ensure that the connector may only be plugged into the generator a single way. This reduces the risk that the electrical conductors may be bent due to improper orientation during the insertion action. In yet another aspect of the present invention, a member disposed at the end of an instrument cable sealingly mates with one end of the connector to protect the electrical connection between the cable and the conductor. The member has a resilient arm which is attached to a soak cap permitting the opposite end of the connector to be sealed in select conditions.

    • A cable includes a number of wires. Each of the wires has a number of signal conductors encompassed by a dielectric sheath, and the sheath is encompassed by a conductive shield. The wires are arranged side-by-side in a row at an end of each wire, where a termination element is connected.
