    • A rocker-type electrical switch of the kind known as a "quiet switch" includes a manually depressible rocker having two opposed contact surfaces at a small angle to each other from which rocker depends a rocker arm terminating in a rocker cam. A slider positioned intermediately of the rocker and the rocker cam is moved back and forth by side-to-side movements of the rocker arm and opens and closes one or more pairs of contacts. Rocker movement is controlled by a rocker cam leaf spring engaging the rocker cam which spring has a cammed profile traversed by the rocker cam to slow the switch, lock the rocker and provide other desirable effects. The rocker cam spring is housed in a spring chamber longer than itself, allowing the rocker cam spring to float.

    • An automatic power cut-off device for emergency situations which is capable of immediately sensing occurrence of an emergency situation such as an accident of a vehicle striking against an obstacle during its running at a high speed, and automatically cutting off electric power flowing through the vehicle, thereby protecting a driver or other passengers in the vehicle from fire or explosion. The automatic power cut-off device includes an impact sensing device having an impact sensor adapted to sense an impact, thereby generating an impact sensing signal, and a solenoid driving circuit for activating a solenoid in response to the impact sensing signal. A return knob is also provided which rotates between a first position, in which connecting terminals respectively coupled to an electric power source and a load are electrically connected to each other, and a second position, in which the connecting terminals are disconnected from each other. The return knob is maintained in its first position in an inactive state of the solenoid as it is engaged with an engagement extension provided at the solenoid. When the solenoid is activated, the return knob is disengaged from the engagement extension, so that it rotates to its second position by a tension coil spring. Thus, the supply of electric power is cut off.

    • An electrical rocker type wall switch capable of single, duplex and triplex configurations incorporates one or more slightly concave manually depressible rockers. These rockers have a relatively short range of motion from their respective on to off positions. The edges of the rocker lie substantially flush with the switch cover when in either of their on or off positions. Switching is actuated by an actuating arm attached to the rocker moving a contact on the end of a movable brush arm in and out of electrical contact with a fixed contact on the end of a contact arm attached to a fixed terminal. One or more brush arms extend from a fixed brush backplate and are formed so as to be resilient. Switch toggling is achieved by using a toggle spring, held in place on the end of a toggle arm, which is compressed during the first half of travel of the rocker from its resting position and expands as the rocker crosses its midway point toward the second half of travel to its resting position on the other side of the switch. The toggle spring sits centrally over a spring pivot which has two spring stops on either side of it to support the toggle spring at the on and off position of the rocker.

    • A pivotal hookswitch mechanism which includes a transverse camshaft supported between actuating arms of a cradle lever. The camshaft carries a plurality of transversely spaced contact spring operating cams, each cam positioned between respective contact springs of a spring pair. The camshaft is carried with its transverse ends within bearing openings of an enclosing housing, the housing enclosing the cams and contact springs. The contact springs are leaf springs resting in two parallel arrays of slots in the housing, the springs being identical. The housing is constructed of two identical shell members each forming a half of the housing, with one half being inverted relative to the other to form the central cavity for the operating components of the mechanism. The housing provides a dust-tight enclosure for the contact springs and cams with entry openings into the housing cavity filled, the enclosure structure serving as a pivot axis and pintle for the actuating lever.
