    • A push switch used in an electronic apparatus is provided which has a thin switch case in spite of fixed contacts embedded in the bottom of the case. When the push switch is depressed, a center fixed contact and an outer fixed contact both made of metal strip and embedded in the bottom of the switch case is electrically connected and disconnected to each other by a movable contact. In the fixed contacts, embedded thin portions are formed, which is thinner than that of the metal strip as the material. As the thin portions are embedded in the switch case, the overall thickness of the bottom of the case is reduced, thus contributing to the thinner push switch.

    • An electrical contact includes a hollow tube having first and second end portions and a center portion; and a spring portion formed in a wall of the hollow tube. The spring portion may be located in the center portion of said hollow tube or in one of the first and second end portions of the hollow tube. The spring portion may be a helical spring portion and may include two helical portions wound in opposite directions. At least one of the first and second end portions may have a diameter that is less than a diameter of said center portion. At least one of the first and second end portions may have a hemispherical shape or closed end. The hollow tube may be of a metal such as stainless steel or may be a hollow tube coated with an electrically conductive material such as one of copper, silver, or gold. The contact may have a shoulder having a diameter which is greater than the diameter of at least one of the first and second end portions and said center portion of the tube and may be disposed between one of the first and second end portions and the center portion of the tube or in one of the first and second end portions or the center portion of the tube.

    • A contact arrangement is provided, e.g. of the type that functions as a wiping contact for a moving contact such as a pivotally mounted switch blade in an electrical power distribution switch. The contact arrangement in an illustrative embodiment includes spaced apart contact members that are biased toward each other to define predetermined contact pressure/force characteristics with respect to the interposed moving contact. The contact members in a preferred embodiment include predetermined contact areas and predetermined structural features to minimize deformation due to magnetic forces experienced in the presence of high currents. The structural features are also arranged to define current paths that increase the contact pressure. In a particular embodiment the contact areas are formed on the contact members so as to minimize the size of the moving contact.

    • A contact device consisting of a helical spring which is adapted from SMD mounting, and which is formed with a base portion adapted to be positioned on and attached to a contact face by soldering or gluing, and with a top portion adapted for handling with a tool preferably associated with an SMD apparatus. This provides the possibility of achieving a generally better and less expensive contacting between components, such as acoustic transducers, batteries or the like and printed circuit boards by means of simple features. Constructing the contact device as a screw or helical spring provides a great safeguard against transfer of laterally directed forces or moments from the contact face which destroy the contact face and/or the solder connection with the printed circuit. A tool for handling the contact device consists of a preferably vacuum-driven mounting pick-up with a central control mandrel which fits internally in the top portion of the contact device, and which has an enclosing, ring-shaped recess adapted to the outer shape of the top portion of the contact device.

    • A switch for an electric motor which inhibits vibratory noise during operation of the motor. The switch includes a housing with a wall, an electrical terminal, and a flexible switch arm. A plurality of contacts comprising first contacts, second contacts, and third contacts are secured in the base. A plurality of switching terminals each includes a positioning portion, a first tab, a second tab, and a third tab. Each switching terminal forms a pushing end opposite the positioning portion, the pushing end also connecting the first tab to the third tab. The tabs respectively form first, second, and third contacting portions thereon. In operation, the first and the second contacting portions are respectively engaged with the first and second contacts when the pushing end is not being pushed laterally. When the pushing end is pushed laterally, the first contacting portion disengages from the first contact, and the third contacting portion moves to engage with the third contact, thereby switching a signal transmission.
