    • A control device is provided for an industrial truck, in particular the towbar of a towbar-guided industrial truck, having a circuit element to generate a multi-stage electrical control signal. The invention teaches that the switching element has at least one contact membrane (6) which can be electrically connected by a pressure force exerted on the contact membrane (6) with at least one of a plurality of contact points (2) that correspond to the contact membrane (6). The contact points (2) are connected by electrical resistors (R1-8). The electrical resistors (R1-8) are preferably connected in series, whereby the connecting line between each two resistors is connected to a contact point (2). There are two sliders (8a, b), each of which exerts a pressure force on the contact membrane (6), as a result of which a contact point (2) can be connected to a contact area (3).

    • The invention relates to an adjustable resistor comprising a strip of resistance material arranged on an insulating carrier and a slider made of conductive material guidable along the strip and contacting the strip, wherein the slider is manufactured from elastomeric material. A slider manufactured from an elastomeric material will, as a result of its flexibility, make contact with the resistance strip over a relatively large part of the width of the resistance strip so flat the problems of an uneven current distribution associated with one-point contact are avoided. The use of an elastomeric material further provides the option of dimensioning and shaping the slider such that it can be handled easily by means of a positioning machine, and the problems of the usually elongate rigid sliders on the production line are avoided. The slider is preferably manufactured from conductive rubber or a conductive plastic. According to yet another embodiment the slider is clamped in a carriage movable parallel to the strip.

    • The invention relates to an electric resistance element, which can be electromechanically regulated. A layer of a predeterminable width and thickness, consisting of an electrically conductive material with a constant specific electric resistance, is located on a substrate. The aim of the invention is to provide an appropriate resistance element that can be produced cost-effectively, with reproducible electric characteristics and a high resistance to wear, without a requirement for additional lubrication. To achieve this, according to the invention, a wear-resistant layer of uniform thickness is configured on the electrically condutive layer situated on the substrate. Said layer consists exclusively of a carbon similar to diamond and has a higher specific electric resistance than that of the layer. The layer of carbon similar to diamond thus lies in contact with the mechanically displaceable contact element.

    • An electrical contactor or wiper that uses an elastomer near the tip to reduce flexing and improve electrical signal accuracy. The contactor includes an elongated beam having a U-shaped end. Several carbon fibers form a bundle attached to the beam. The fibers have ends and tips. The ends are compressively held inside the U-shaped end and the tips emanate from the U-shaped end. An elastomer is disposed over the carbon fibers where they emanate from the U-shaped end. The elastomer reduces flexing of the carbon fibers. The elastomer is located between the beam and adjacent to the tips with the tips being exposed. A laser is used to trim the carbon fibers and elastomer to form the tips.
