    • Apparatus for connecting an HV cable to the cathode of an X-ray tube is provided with a housing disposed for attachment to the X-ray tube, and a quantity of epoxy or other electric insulating material contained within the housing. The epoxy serves to insulate the exposed end portions of the HV cable conductors, which extend beyond the cable insulation for insertion into the X-ray tube casing. The connector apparatus further includes a heat transfer device, such as a heat pipe, which extends long the cable within the connector housing. A quantity of working fluid contained in the heat transfer device is disposed for bi-directional movement along the device to transfer heat from a first location within the insulating material to a second location proximate to the housing.

    • The invention relates to a post insulator (4) whose surface (41, 51) is geometrically configured, in at least one area (4a) between an inner conductor (2) and encapsulation (3) for a gas-insulated switchgear assembly (1) such that surface discharge paths (6b) are provided between the inner conductor (2) and the encapsulation (3) and have a subsection in the opposite direction to the bridging direction (7). In consequence, surface discharges (6a) can be diverted in the opposite direction to an original propagation direction (7), and come to rest by self-blocking. Exemplary embodiments relate to: an indentation (4b) which is concave and is open toward the inner conductor (2) and/or toward the encapsulation (3) and is formed between a cup shaped barrier (5) and the base body (40) of the post insulator (4); diversion of surface discharges (6a) through up to 180° for efficient self blocking; and adhesive bonding (45) of the barrier (5) on a conventional post insulator (4). The invention also relates to a gas-insulated switchgear assembly (1) or to a switchgear assembly module having such a post insulator (4) or partition insulator (4).

    • An ignition lead assembly that includes a seal sub-assembly that permits the ignition lead assembly to be pressurized, thus facilitating a reduction in the formation of corona within the ignition lead assembly. The ignition lead assembly also includes an ignition cable housed within a conduit and attached at each end to a connector. The ignition cable also includes a plurality of wires encased within permeable electrical insulation. The conduit also includes an air-cooled portion and a non-air-cooled portion connected together with a coupling assembly. The seal sub-assembly prevents air pressure from decreasing within the pressurized ignition lead assembly.

    • A cable joint for a multi-core cable including an outer sheath, at least one electric pilot line, at least one optical fiber line, and several cable cores. Both the electric pilot line and the optical fiber line are disposed in protective tubing.
