    • A digital clock construction, a pinion gear therefor and methods of making the same are provided, the clock construction comprising a frame, first and second time indicating drums each being rotatably carried by the frame, and a pinion gear rotatably carried by the frame and having driving gear teeth disposed in meshing relation with an annular internal gear of the second drum whereby rotation of the pinion gear causes rotation of the second drum, the pinion gear having locking teeth extending from certain of the driving teeth thereof, the first drum having an annular internal locking surface that is adapted to slide against a pair of locking teeth to hold the pinion gear from rotation thereof while the first drum is being rotated through certain timed increments of movement thereof, the first drum having a pair of kicker teeth for meshing with the driving teeth of the pinion gear to rotate the pinion gear when the first drum is being rotated through a particular one of the timed increments of movement thereof, the first drum having a relief in the locking surface thereof that is located adjacent the kicker teeth thereof for receiving one of the locking teeth therein as the pinion gear is being rotated by the kicker teeth, the locking teeth each having a part thereof that is adapted to cooperate with the relief to prevent any substantial rotation of the pinion gear in one direction thereof after the first drum has completed the particular timed increment of movement thereof and that respective locking tooth is in alignment with the relief so as to be out of engagement with the locking surface.

    • A memory mechanism for controlling incremental change of informations in a plurality of information systems to be indicated successively in turn. The mechanism comprises actuation means adapted to be actuated in response to an input signal each time said actuation means receives such a signal, a first memory wheel operated by said actuation means to incrementally change the informations in the first system of said plurality of informations systems and having an intermittent transmission means, a first transmission wheel for engaging said intermittent transmission means, a second memory wheel including a second transmission wheel and adapted to incrementally change the informations in the second information system of said plurality of information systems, a first camming portion formed on said first memory wheel, second camming portions formed on said second memory wheel, lever means acting on said first and second camming portions and adapted to be operated during the lever means is in engagement with both said first and a selected one of said second camming portions and operation means operatively connected to said lever means to operate said first memory wheel so as to allow the first memory wheel to effect incremental information change in said first information system independent of said input signal during said lever is operating whereby incremental change of the informations in the first information system is controlled.

    • A time display mechanism for use with the movement of a timepiece, which movement has separate hour and minute shafts. The mechanism comprises separate hour and minute display rotors to be mounted on and rotatable with their respective shafts. The hour display rotor is marked completely around its periphery with indicia indicating hours, conveniently 0 to 12 and the minute display rotor is marked with the indicia 0 to 60 about a portion of the minute display rotor surface leaving a space between the 0 and 60 marks, which space is equivalent to the spacing between two successive hour markings on the first display rotor. An indicator is disposed over both display rotors to indicate the time. Two alternative means are provided for moving the indicator at substantially the same speed as the hour display rotor during each hour but at the end of the hour to shift the indicator rapidly across the space between the 60 and 0 marks to assume a position over the next following hour indicia. The indicator may comprise a pointer or, alternatively, a movable shutter having a window therein for indicating hours and a pointer for indicating minutes.

    • A timepiece is provided by having a cylindrical color carrying member on which is coded a plurality of distinguishable color areas in uniform sections around its circumference, said color areas representing uniform units of time within a time period; a separate and second plurality of sections displayed on the circumference of the cylindrical member to denote a second period of time; an independent reference indicator means adapted to indicate successively each of the color areas and each of the second plurality of sections; and timepiece driving means to impart relative rotation between said indicator means and said cylindrical color carrying member so that each section of the cylindrical member is indicated successively within the desired time period of a plurality of hours, such as a 12 or 24 hour period. At least one period of time, such as the hours of a day or minutes of one hour, is displayed by distinguishable colors while the second time period is displayed by any convenient means of denoting a division, such as markings, numerals, a separate code of colors which are distinguishable from the first color code, a separate code of distinguishable color patterns, colored or non-colored bodies, etc.
