    • A smart, adaptive control system that monitors and influences physical conditions of an architectural setting. The architectural setting in which the system is deployed typically includes a plurality of private spaces and at least one community space. The individual private spaces, and the community spaces, may include an environmental control device that affects one or more physical conditions of the individual private space. Each private space may also include an environmental sensor that measures a particular physical condition of the private space. The private spaces may also include one or more occupant sensors, which measure either behavioral or physiological parameters of an occupant. The environmental control devices, environmental sensors, and occupant sensors are in communication with a computer. The computer is also in communication with a database, which houses a data set that describes how to best modify the physical conditions of the architectural setting.

    • An air diffuser module for use as a part of an outlet, plenum, or register for conditioned air and to support, be supported by, or connected to another part of the outlet is provided. The module comprises a module frame and at least one trajectory vane pivotally mounted horizontally within the module frame with each trajectory vane having internal stand-off walls for stabilizing each trajectory vane and causing additional trajectory travel when in contact with an arching surface of the thermostatic bimetal. A thermostatic bimetal strip is secured within each trajectory vane for adjusting the angle of each trajectory vane relative to the module frame responding to the temperature of the supply conditioned air with an arched portion formed on the thermostatic bimetal strip. The module provides an energy saving air pattern by directing conditioned supply air to the proper elevation for mixing prior to the air entering an occupied zone and thereby reducing air temperature stratification.

    • A smoke exhaust structure including a housing, a circuit system and a smoke exhaust system. At least one motor is arranged on the housing. The circuit system is connected with the motor and a controller via electric wire. The smoke exhaust system is composed of at least one fan, a wind chamber and at least one oil tank. The smoke exhaust system is an independent passage. The wind chamber communicates with the housing and the circuit system only via at least one through hole which is slightly larger than the motors, permitting the motor to pass therethrough.     • A vacuum conduit system for removal of fumes and air borne particulate matter includes a primary duct and a plurality of flexible secondary ducts mounted in fluid cooperation to the primary duct.     • A fume hood includes a top, bottom sidewalls, front panel and a back panel that define an enclosed workspace. The fume hood also includes a movable sash for opening and closing an access opening and an airfoil disposed proximate an edge portion of the opening to direct airflow through the opening and into the workspace. The airfoil is automatically raised from a down position to an up position when the sash is raised to a predetermined height. In addition, the airfoil may be automatically raised when the velocity of the airflow into the access opening decreases below a predetermined value. Once raised, the airfoil may be automatically or manually lowered to the down position. In one embodiment, the airfoil includes one or more fins having an angled portion that extends downwardly below the work surface of the fume hood when the airfoil is in the down position, thereby reducing the possibility of a potential spill when the technician removes an item from the workspace.

In an alternate embodiment, the fume hood also includes an alarm system to provide a visual and/or audible indication to the user of a working condition of the fume hood. The characteristics of the visual indication and the audible indication may vary depending on the position of the movable sash and the measured airflow from the discharge of the air chamber.
