    • A female coupling member includes a coupling member body having a fluid passage and being configured to receive a male coupling member from a front end thereof, and a valve member disposed in the coupling member body to traverse the fluid passage. The valve member has an opening and is displaceable between an open position and a closed position. In the open position, the valve member communicates between a front end side and a rear end side of the fluid passage through the opening. In the closed position, the opening is located outside the fluid passage to close communication between the front end side and the rear end side of the fluid passage. The valve member has a purge passage configured to communicate with both the front end side of the fluid passage and the atmosphere outside the female coupling member when the valve member is in the closed position.

    • A hydraulic valve coupling has an interlock mechanism that includes at least one blocking member within an interlock passage of a body of the valve coupling. The interlock passage has a first end opening to the valve shaft and a second end opening to an interface groove of the valve coupling. The at least one blocking member can be retracted within the interlock passage such that the valve coupling can be rotated and disengaged from a mating coupling. When the valve is in the open position, the at least one blocking member is positioned within the interlock passage such that it contacts the mating coupling and prevents rotation of the valve coupling relative to the mating coupling. The second end of the at least one blocking member can be shaped such that it is retracted as a result of contact with the mating coupling without assistance from a biasing mechanism.

    • A unisex ball valve coupling includes an interface end that engages an interface end of a mating coupling half assembly. A valve of the coupling has a valve body, which has an open position in which fluid flow is permitted through the internal passage and a closed position in which the valve body closes off fluid flow through the internal passage. A valve shaft rotates with the valve body between the open position and the closed position. The valve shaft has a first surface. A blocking member is movable from a blocking position to a non-blocking position within the body portion. In the blocking position, the blocking member engages the first surface of the valve shaft to secure the valve body in the closed position and, in the non-blocking position, the blocking member does not engage the first surface of the valve shaft to permit opening of the valve.
