    • A micromachined coupler for coupling a capillary having a first size to an orifice having a shape and a second size, has a body which has a shape conforming the shape of the cavity into which the body must fit. A through hole is defined through the body. The through hole has a size conforming to the first size of the capillary. The capillary is disposable into the through hole so that the capillary is communicated to the orifice without the first and second sizes necessarily being the same. The cavity and the body have conforming slanting surfaces, and in particular the cavity and the body define truncated pyramidal shapes. The cavity and the body each have a truncated pyramidal shape. The pyramidal shape may be square, triangular, or conical. A method of fabricating the micromachined coupler is achieved either by micromaching or micromolding.

    • A grip coupling (18) for tubular conduit has a coupling body (20) formed by two halves (22, 24) which are joined along weld lines (26). The two halves (22, 24) each include a tapered entrance section (28) and an interior seal (30). The interior seals (30) are disposed inboard of the tapered entrance sections (28). Two annular-shaped shoulders (32) are formed in the interior surfaces of each of the two halves (22, 24), and are spaced apart to face inboard relative to the respective two halves (22, 24) when the two halves (22, 24) are joined together. Two grip rings (36) are disposed within respective ones of the two halves (22, 24), fitting against respective ones of the two annular-shaped shoulders (32). The grip rings (36) have grip teeth (40) and are tapered to extend radially inward in an inboard direction relative to the body (20).

    • A fabricated steel pipe repair clamp having a steel band and interlocking steel lugs having respective tension bars and tightening bolts or studs forming the tightening assembly. The tightening assembly comprises a welded stud lug assembly, and a tension bar lug welded assembly, each having a base plate, and a backup plate. The two folded terminals of the clamping metal band are welded between the base plate and the backup plate forming the respective lug bodies. The laminated weld forming the lug assembly results in a stronger lug body backup plate and provides an even clamping force. An alternative embodiment combines the base plate and the backup plate connected to form jaws. Another embodiment employs an offset backup plate to form the lugs to receive the band ends in a recess formed between the tensioner bars and between the studs shank portions.

    • A pipe coupling for attachment to a pipe includes a sleeve. One end of the sleeve is configured to receive a pipe end. The pipe coupling also includes an annular gasket disposed within the end of the sleeve for encircling the pipe end. The coupling includes a flanged assembly for compressing the annular gasket to form a seal between the pipe and the sleeve. The sleeve and the gasket are configured so as to define a leak path between an axially inner portion of the gasket and the inner surface of the sleeve, whereby pressurized fluid from the pipe may pass along the leak path so as to pressurize a radially outer surface of the gasket and urge the gasket against the compression flange to enhance the seal between the gasket and the sleeve.
