    • A leak testing device to be positioned between two adjacent conduits comprises a generally cylindrical body defining a recess therethrough and including first and second end portions for cooperating with the respective end portions of two adjacent conduits. The body includes an opening between the first and second end portions. A sealing door is provided to be positioned in the opening. A diaphragm member including a through hole is provided to be positioned within the body. A valve is operably connected to the diaphragm member for selectively opening or closing the through hole to thereby permit or restrict the flow of a fluid between the two conduits. The opening in the body receives the diaphragm member when leak-testing a conduit, or the sealing door when connecting the two conduits in a fluid communication.

    • A test plug and method for isolating and testing a connection, such as a welded connection, which interconnects a wall of tank, vessel, or pipe to a branch pipe or nozzle. The test plug isolates the connection from the remainder of the tank, vessel or piping system and enables pressure/leak testing of the connection without requiring pressurization of the entire tank or vessel or a large section of the piping system. Further, the test plug can be utilized during welding operations to isolate harmful materials, vapors or fumes existing within tanks, vessels or piping systems from the weld location and to permit the flow of an inert gas to safely flush any potentially harmful vapors or the like away from the welding area.

    • In combination with a sewer and drain pipe plug testing device including an expandable plug having a flexible strap-like member secured at a one end of the expandable plug which enables removal of the expandable plug from a sewer or drain pipe after testing is complete. The improvement comprises a handle-like member secured to the opposite end of the strap-like member. The handle-like member would have a predetermined size which is at least large enough to prevent entry into the open sewer and drain pipe. There is at least one aperture formed through the handle-like member that has a predetermined shape substantially identical to a nut-like portion of a plug member disposed in the sewer and drain pipe to enable tightening and loosening the plug member into and from, respectively, the sewer and drain pipe. Also, there is at least one round threaded aperture drilled into the handle-like member that intersects the aperture formed into the handle-like member for engaging the nut of a threaded closure plug. This provides for a wing nut bolt to threadedly engage the round aperture and engage the nut of the threaded closure plug while the handle-like member is in contact with the nut of a threaded closure plug.

    • A method and device for pressure testing a pipe line is provided wherein a fitting is inserted into the pipeline by inserting male ends of the pipeline into female ends of the fitting to define a flow path through the fitting extending along a longitudinal axis. The fitting has an internal boss extending around a circumference of the flow path and extending radially inward toward the centerline a distance corresponding to the wall thickness of the mating male ends of the pipes so the pipes and boss define a periphery of the flow path through the fitting. A recess is formed in the boss to sequentially receive two slides. An externally accessible port allows a test slide to be inserted into the recess, with the test slide sealing against the walls defining the recess to form a fluid-tight seal for pressure testing the line. The test slide is removed and a finish slide is inserted into the recess. The finish slide has an opening located and configured to coincide with the flow path through the male ends of the pipes, and to block the recess to provide a substantially uniform, cylindrical flow path through the fitting.

    • An expandable pipe stopper for inserting within a pipe having two rigid circular plates adapted to be inserted wholly within a pipe and an outwardly-expandable flexible seal located between peripheral surfaces of the plates so as to be capable of expanding radially. A projection is rigidly secured to or integral with a first of the plates and extends slideably through an aperture defined by the second plate. The stopper also includes a lever pivotable about an axis through the projection and cam means rigidly secured to or integral with the lever such that the lever is pivotable between a first orientation in which the flexible seal is relatively undistorted and a second orientation in which the cam means force the plates towards each other so as to axially compress and radially expand the seal for engaging with sealing contact with the wall of a pipe. The member extends from the plate such that when the pipe stopper is located within a pipe it provides a reactive force to tilting of the pipe stopper from its operative position.

    • A plug for a pipeline fitting is provided and includes a cylindrical body having an annular sealing groove, an O-ring fitted in the annular sealing groove, an expanding plate having an outer edge inserted into an annular locking groove of the pipeline fitting, and an expanding device connected to a plugging machine to insert the expanding plate into the locking groove of the fitting. The expanding plate is divided into two half plates and has a central opening with a minor axis in the direction of expansion and a major axis perpendicular to the expansion direction. The expanding plate has elongated holes and pins formed at positions symmetrical with respect to the dividing line of the expanding plate. The cylindrical body has threaded holes formed at positions corresponding to the elongated holes of the expanding plate. Screws are screwed into the threaded holes through the elongated holes to couple the expanding plate to the cylindrical body. The cylindrical body has a central circular recess. The expanding device includes a lower disc inserted into the circular recess of the cylindrical body, an upper disc having a pair of curved elongated holes engaged with the pins of the expanding plate to move the pins outwardly, an annular groove formed between the upper and lower discs, and a connecting portion to be connected to the plugging machine.
