摘要： An access ladder assembly for a machine includes a fixed section, a movable section, a biasing member, a locking member, and a release assembly. The fixed section includes a pair of guide members and a fixed step. The movable section is mounted on and is movable along the fixed section between extended and retracted positions. The movable section includes a pair of sidewalls, and at least one horizontal step and is biased towards the retracted position by the biasing member. The locking member locks the movable member at the extended position. The release assembly operates to release the locking member. A manually engagable actuator of the release assembly may be disposed adjacent the fixed step. The movable section may include rails that slide within a hollow portions of the guide members as the movable section moves between the extended and retracted positions.

The platform (2) and the ladder (3) are movable between an access position (FIG. 1) wherein the ladder (3) is positioned downwardly and the platform (2) is horizontal, and, a storage position (FIG. 3), in which the ladder (3) is positioned upwards and the platform (2) is vertical. In a first step, the actuator (4) rotates the ladder through about a 90.degree. angle to an intermediate position (FIG. 2) at which time the ladder (3) engages with the platform (2). Then, in a second step, the ladder (3) and platform (2) cooperatively rotate between the intermediate position (FIG. 2) and the stored position (FIG. 3).

摘要： A retractable ladder for attachment to a vertical support. The ladder is attached by two legs each of which is hinged to both a wall and the ladder. The resulting arrangement is a parallelogram-type linkage. A spring is provided tending to pull the ladder in toward the wall. When the ladder is in the open position, the torque in the direction to open the ladder is at a maximum and the spring force is insufficient for retracting the ladder. When the ladder is in the closed or retracted position, the opening torque is at a minimum and the spring force is sufficient to keep the ladder closed.
