    • A hinge assembly for a flat display monitor is enclosed. The hinge assembly according to the present invention includes a support plate fastened to a rear side of a flat display monitor; first and second mount brackets, each having a base side fastened to the support plate and a bracket side with a bracket hole; and a hinge shaft rotatably mounted so as to extend through the bracket hole of each mount bracket. The hinge assembly further includes a hinge tongue fixedly coupled to the hinge shaft, the hinge tongue also being coupled to a support leg; means for limiting an inclination angle of the flat display monitor by limiting an angular position of the hinge shaft; and means for adjusting a torque required to change the inclination angle of the flat display monitor. The hinge assembly of the present invention allows a user to adjust the inclination angle of a flat display monitor easily. In addition, the whole processes of making and assembling the hinge assembly are greatly simplified.

    • In order to achieve the situation where a pivotably mounted structural part, under the action of an adjusting force, is made to move indeed automatically but merely with braking and damping action, and thus at a reduced speed and with reduced kinetic energy, provision is made for the hinge which mounts the structural part to be equipped with a pivot brake, of which the braking force applied over the pivoting distance is smaller than the adjusting force and is adapted to the progression of the adjusting force over the pivoting distance. In selected regions, the braking force of the pivot brake may be greater than the adjusting force, in order to retain the structural part in these regions. The braking work performed by the pivot brake is advantageously calculated so as to absorb 20% to 25% of the adjusting work performed by the adjusting force.

    • A hinged, at least two-parted, electronic device. The hinge of the device comprises a tapered hinge pin (140) supported to a first turning part (110) and, matching with the pin, a tapered bowl (170) fixed to a second turning part (120+130), against which bowl the hinge pin rubs pushed by a spring (150). The hinge pin has as an extension of the tapered section a cylindrical section. The device preferably comprises also a second hinge (190+191,160), and the spring preferably continues forming the hinge axis of the second hinge (160). The hinge construction preferably comprises also means for passing a thin coaxial cable (CBL) from the base of the hinge to the vicinity of the hinge line to a section essentially parallel with the hinge line. In this way the coaxial cable connecting the turning parts can be made to twist on a section of its length and the strain directed at a length unit of the cable can be reduced to an acceptable level.
