    • The present invention relates generally to a bracket (1) which in a preferred embodiment is formed of a single strip of sheet metal comprising an affixture portion or a flat wall frame affixture portion (2) and an anchoring portion or a flat base affixture portion (3) having temporary spacing means in the form of four outwardly protruding teeth (4) projecting from a lower face of the base affixture portion (3). The wall frame affixture portion (2) is secured via affixture fasteners (7) to a structural member of a wall frame in the form of a wall stud (8). The base of affixture portion (3) is secured against the upper surface of a building element or a concrete floor slab (6). In assembly, the teeth (4) provide a temporary gap between the lower face (13) of the base fixture portion (3) and the upper surface of the base or concrete floor slab (6). The bracket (1) is secured to the concrete slab (6) via a bolt or shank (9) pre-anchored to the base (6). A nut (13) is threaded onto the shank (9) whereby tightening of the nut (13) crushes the teeth (4) and tensions the stud (8) via the bracket (1).

    • A method for fastening a flat strip lamella (10) to the surface of a building component (12). According to the inventive method, the face (14) of the flat strip lamella (10) is pressed against the surface of the building using an adhesive coating (16) consisting of a reaction resin applied in a paste-like consistency (16) and hardened to form an adhesive joint. The flat strip lamella (10) comprises a plurality of carbon fibers which are embedded in a binder matrix (28) and placed parallel to each other in a longitudinal direction. In order to increase the speed at which the adhesive coating hardens, the invention provides that an electrical current flows through least one part of the carbon fibers (26), heating the flat strip lamella (10) which in turn heats the adhesive coating (16).

    • Concrete strengthening members, particularly prestressing tendons such as strands of steel wire, are provided with a strongly adherent plastic coating which may be substantially impermeable for improved corrosion resistance, and/or which may have embedded therein abrasive or grit-form particles to provide improved bond with the concrete, and particularly to provide controllable bond transfer in prestressing tendons of the pre-tensioned type. The plastic coating preferably is applied electrostatically in powder form, and fusion bonded by heat. The abrasive can be applied by spraying during a viscous state of the heated resin, and can be varied as to size and spacing density so as to control the surface condition and the bonding effect. Fusion and curing heat may come from preheating of the member before application of the resin powder, which preferably is a heat curable, thermosetting epoxy. Coating thickness and grit application are readily variable to meet particular requirements. Particularly advantageous results are achievable for high strength steel strands for prestressing concrete by pretensioning, facilitating their use where previously considered impractical or impossible.

    • An insulated concrete wall assembly having an embedded anchor plate which enables reliable mounting of fixtures, such as curtain rod brackets and the like, to an exposed surface of an interior wall of a building. The anchor plate is preferably an expanded metal plate having securement apertures of a size to receive and positively engage a fastener extending through wallboard and the anchor plate thereby permitting the fixture to be drawn into tight engagement with the wallboard by positive engagement of the fixture mounting fastener with the anchor plate. In addition, the anchor plate preferably has integrally formed securement projections, or spikes, which enable the anchor plate to be pressed into engagement with the rigid foam insulation before wallboard, such as drywall, is applied over the insulation.
