    • A framing assembly and associated method of orienting and supporting a plurality of framing studs for constructing a curved wall through the utilization of a base formed of a high strength, flexible and at least partially separable material comprising a plurality of base segments which are disposed in interconnecting relation to spaced apart outwardly extending the sidewalls disposed in substantially parallel relation to one another. The plurality of base segments are removably secured to one another but are separable when the base is disposed in an operative position defined by a curved orientation which substantially corresponds to the curved wall or like structure being formed. The operative position is further defined by the plurality of base segments disposed in overlapping engagement with one another and an innermost one of the sidewalls separated into portions are overlapped and fixed so as to shorten the longitudinal dimension thereof and stabilize the framing assembly once the correct operative position of the base has been established.

    • Deck joist flashing 10 is provided which includes a top wall 20 extending between lateral edges 22 spaced apart by a width similar to a width of a joist J to be protected from coming into contact with water. Side walls 30 extend down from the lateral edges 22 of the top wall 20. Bottom edges 34 of each side wall 30 include a beveled wall 40 extending therefrom. Each beveled wall 40 extends diagonally away from the bottom edges 34 of the side wall 30 to a tip 44. The tips 44 of the two beveled walls 40 are spaced further from each other than the lateral edges 22 of the top wall 20 so that the tips 44 are spaced away from sides of the joist J by the flashing 10. In this way, water is directed away from surfaces of the joist J to preserve the joist J from deterioration associated with contact with water. A material forming the flashing 10 is sufficiently elastic, soft and flexible that fasteners can pass through the flashing without cracking and the flashing 10 can seal around the fastener to preclude water migration through fastener holes in the top wall 20. The material is sufficiently soft that it can be rolled-up into a roll 112 to take up lesser space when being stored or transported.

    • An overfilled, pre-cast reinforced concrete arch bridge for supporting one pathway above a second pathway in which the projections of the pathways intersect at an oblique angle. The bridge includes a plurality of identically shaped arch elements that are offset from each other to form a staggered orientation whereby a skewed bridge is formed without specially shaped arch elements. Cover elements can be used to prevent migration of soil or water into the bridge and various forms of arch elements can be used in the bridge.

    • A connector is disclosed for interconnection of disconnected truss members. The connector comprises an elongate sheet metal plate including a first plate portion and a second plate portion. The first plate portion has nailing teeth adapted to be driven into a truss member for permanently attaching the first plate portion to one member. The second plate portion has nail holes formed in it for receiving nails to permanently attach the second plate portion to another of the truss members. The second truss plate portion is substantially free of nailing teeth at the peripheries of the nail holes, but has at least one nailing tooth for temporary connection of the second plate portion to the truss during transport. The truss can be collapsed and transported to the building site with the truss members disconnected. The truss can then be erected and the truss members connected by positioning the second plate over a face of the other truss member and securing the second plate to the other truss member by driving nails through the holes.
