    • A wire foil for a paper production installation has a supporting strip and plates fixed to the latter. The plates are mutually adjoining ceramic plates. The supporting strip and the plates of ceramic material are formed, on the mutually contacting surfaces, with mutually facing recesses, in which connecting elements are anchored. The connecting elements are fixed in the recesses in the plates of ceramic material by a form fit, and plates located beside one another are fixed to the supporting strip by at least one common connecting element extending over the joint.

    • The invention relates to a method for minimizing tension variation in a paper web induced by drying of the web in a paper machine. Tension variations in the paper web are caused by successive draws and moisture fluctuations. Good strength properties require optimization of the draws. In addition, the tension variation induced by moisture must be minimized. The analysis of local modulus and the strain components can be used for determining optimal locations for profiling actuators in order to achieve good tension profile. In the method according to the invention, longitudinal strain components of the web, i.e. reversible elastic strain, permanent plastic strain and frozen-in strain relievable with water are continuously measured and determined and the variation of said longitudinal components is minimized by correcting the moisture content of the paper web in a dryer section of the paper machine and/or by optimizing the draws between dryer groups in the dryer section.

    • A method and apparatus for conditioning a fibrous material. The conditioning arrangement includes a moisturizing chamber having two series of opposed rollers arranged to accept a fiber batt into a pressing space therebetween. The pressing space tapers from a batt entrance toward a batt exit. This tapered configuration is affected for compressing a fiber batt as it is rolled therethrough. As illustrated, before entering the conditioner, the cotton batt has a greater thickness than after compaction and processing through the moisturizing chamber. A moisture infusion assembly is provided within the moisturizing chamber and has an air distributor configured to dispense moisture laden air adjacent to a fiber batt being processed through the pressing space. An air collector is configured to pull exhaust air away from the fiber batt being processed through the pressing space. The moisturizing chamber is configured to confine and circulate dispensed moisture laden air through the fiber batt being processed through the pressing space for optimizing a finished moisture content thereof.

    • The invention relates to an arrangement for threading a pulp web (W) from the press section (1) of a pulp machine to the dryer (2) of the pulp machine. The arrangement comprises a closing tail threading belt (3) or the like, which is arranged to convey the narrow tail end (Wh) formed on the pulp web (W) inside the dryer (2), where the tail threading cord travels outside the edge of the normal web line of the pulp web. The tail end (Wh) can subsequently be broadened into a normal-width pulp web (W).
