    • A method of operating a draw frame including a plurality of serially arranged roll pairs each defining a nip through which a fiber sliver passes from roll pair to roll pair. Each roll pair is formed of an upper roll and a lower roll. A pressing arm carries the upper rolls, and pressing devices are accommodated in the pressing arm for pressing each upper roll against a respective lower roll. The method comprises the following steps: during the working state of the draw frame, passing the sliver consecutively through the roll pair nips while the pressing devices press the upper rolls against respective lower rolls, and during an interruption of the working state the upper output roll is relieved of pressing forces to an extent that at the most only an insubstantial pressure is exerted by the upper output roll on the sliver situated in the nip between the upper output roll and the lower output roll.

    • Bearing assemblies for supporting opposite stub shafts of an upper drawing roll of a textile sliver drawing frame. Each bearing assembly includes a bearing sleeve having an inner cylindrical surface and an open end through which a respective stub shaft projects into the bearing sleeve; rolling bodies disposed circumferentially between the stub shaft and the inner cylindrical surface of the bearing sleeve; a spring supporting member disposed in the bearing sleeve and being affixed to the inner cylindrical surface thereof; and a holding element disposed in the bearing sleeve between the spring supporting member and the end face of the stub shaft. The holding element is axially displaceable relative to the bearing sleeve. A spring is disposed in the bearing sleeve between and in contact with, the spring supporting member and the end face of the stub shaft. The drawing roll is axially shiftable relative to the bearing sleeves of the first and second bearing assemblies against the force of the spring towards which the roll is shifted.

    • A textile sliver drawing unit includes a roller assembly for advancing and drawing a sliver running therethrough. The roller assembly includes an upper roll and a lower roll cooperating with the upper roll. The drawing unit further has a pressing device for pressing the upper roll against the lower roll during operation. The pressing device includes a pivotally supported pressing arm having an inwardly pivoted operational position and an outwardly pivoted inoperative position; a force-generating device carried by the pressing arm; a movable member coupled to the force-generating device and engageable at least indirectly with the upper roll for transmitting a force from the force-generating device to the upper roll for pressing on the lower roll; and a carrier element mounted on the pressing arm and being settable into locking and unlocking positions. In the locking position the carrier element locks the upper roll to the pressing arm, whereby the upper roll is moved away from the lower roll together with the pressing arm when the latter is pivoted from the operative position into the inoperative position. In the unlocking position of the carrier element the upper roll is released from the pressing arm, whereby the upper roll remains positioned on the lower roll when the pressing arm is pivoted from the operative position into the inoperative position.

    • An apparatus on a draw frame for textile fiber slivers has a drawing system having weighting of the top rollers of successively arranged pairs of rollers comprising a bottom and a top roller. During operation, the top rollers are pressed against the bottom rollers by weighted pressure elements in pressure arms. Two pressure elements with a common holding element are associated with each top roller and the weighting device is removable. To improve the said apparatus, a pressure element is rotatably or pivotally mounted at a center of rotation or a pivot bearing and the pressure elements are connected with one another by a supporting element.

    • A pneumatically energized loading mechanism for a drafting device is proposed for loading the upper rolls of the device. This mechanism possesses pneumatic cylinders which subject the upper rolls to a force, which acts from a holder plate (4) for the securement of the cylinder (2). The support is effected by a stop plate (200), which acts in unison with holder plate (4). The cylinder (2) possesses a guide surface (201) positioning the cylinder on the support (4). The cylinder (2) exhibits a piston with a circular cross-section and is comprised of plastic. The cylinder (2) is affixed to the holder (4) by a securement means (20). By the support of the cylinder (2) on the holder (4), the securement means (20) need accept no force engendered by the piston. The cylinder (2) simultaneously forms a passage for a current bus which serves as the power cutoff of the drafting device when fiber windup difficulties arise.
