    • The invention relates to a small cutting wheel for producing a scribed/scored predetermined breaking line, wherein the cutting wheel has a radial peripheral line defining an outer periphery of the wheel which at least partially presents a cutting edge having cutting teeth which form a rough tooth system and which are circumferentially spaced from each other by intermediate tooth spaces. A cutting wheel shall be provided by which particularly flat displays but also other glass bodies can be produced with an improved quality of the separation planes and breaking edges and with minimum rejects also in different cases of application. For this purpose it is proposed that the cutting teeth of the rough tooth system include at least over a part of the perimeter of the small wheel a non-uniform arrangement in which the length Z of the cutting teeth and/or the length S of the intermediate tooth spaces varies at least between some adjacent teeth and/or intermediate tooth spaces or between all teeth and/or intermediate tooth spaces.

    • A square for glass cutting has a triangular shaped phenolic plastic body having a head supporting base member, a straight edge, and a straight edge strengthening member. The base member has a plurality of apertures having diameters of a first dimension. A head member includes first and second head plates interconnected and spaced by a bridge to sandwich the base member. The first and second plates have a plurality of apertures having centers corresponding to the centers of the base member apertures, but having diameters of a second dimension less than the first dimension but equal to the diameters of set screws, whereby when the head member is loosely attached to the head support member by the set screws the squaring of the first head plate automatically squares the second head plate and the tightening of the set screws maintains the squared relationship between the head plates and the straight edge member. The support member forms the hypotenuse of the right angle triangle and provides straight edge strength at the top where needed and base member support to prevent rotation of the straight edge member.

    • A device for separating a microscope slide into two separate sections has a arm mounted on a horizontal pivot carrying a downwardly extending glass cutter. A releasable member maintains the arm in an elevated position. A slider advances a microscope slide under the cutter releasing the releasable member to lower the cutter onto the microscope slide. A striker on the arm strikes one section of the cut slide to separate it from the other section as the cutter drops off the trailing edge of the slide. The slide then raises the arm for the restoration of the releasable means preferably by a cam attached to the arm. Advantageously, the releasable member is spring biased to its position to maintain the arm in an elevated position and is released by a cam attached to the slide. Advantageously, the slide is supported on a bed having an opening for the downward passage of the section of the slide struck by the striker with the opening having a edge underlying the cut made in the slide by the cutter. Advantageously, the slide is removable for cleaning purposes.

    • A glass cutter includes a head at one end, a manipulator at the opposite end, a casing arranged at the head and defined by a support plate and a circular cover plate firmly connected thereto, a plurality of cutting discs supported circularly and rotatably between the support plate and the circular cover plate, of which cutting discs always one is in readiness for cutting. The casing of the cutting discs is retained exchangeable in an elongated recess at the head of the glass cutter and the support plate is formed multi-edged at the perimeter. The support plate of the cutting discs engages with two flattened faces parallel to one another at lateral confinements of the recess which defines an arc at its inner end at the head of the glass cutter. Two opposing grooves parallel to the lateral confinements of the recess are associated with the recess in advance thereof for accommodating the portions of the stand-by cutting discs projecting relative to the casing of the cutting discs. The cover plate of the casing is guided fitting into a free space confined by the outer limb of the groove. The casing of the cutting discs passes through an edge cutout of the head of the glass cutter with a screw, a knurled nut being guided on the screw and capable of being tightened against the head of the glass cutter.
