    • A system for the enteral delivery of a solution, including desired nutrients to a human. The solution is passed from a container through an elongated giving set and metering system into a nasal tube. In accordance with the present ivnention, the container is an aseptic carton having penetrable side walls while the giving set terminates at a fitting having a fluid passage extending therethrough. The fitting terminates at a carton cooperating portion which includes a first portion for penetrating the carton side walls to form an orifice therein, the orifice establishing fluid communication between the carton interior and the fitting fluid passage, and a second portion for engaging the carton side wall to maintain cooperating between the carton and fitting. A seal is provided to block fluid flow from the carton interior except through the fluid passage while, in a preferred embodiment, provision is made for the delivery of make-up air to the interior of the carton.

    • An oil spout apparatus including an elongated tubular spout having a can piercing blade extended from one end and a butterfly valve positioned interiorly of the spout for movement between a closed position wherein the valve is oriented transversely of the spout to substantially retard oil flow through the spout and an open position wherein the valve is oriented generally perpendicularly to its closed position whereby oil flow through the spout is substantially unimpeded. A handle positioned exteriorly of the spout is connected to the valve for moving it between its closed and open positions and providing a visual indication of the position of the valve. In an alternate embodiment, the spout is provided with a pair of spaced apart inlet end portions which feed a single outlet end. Each inlet end portion is provided with a can piercing blade and butterfly valve so that a pair of oil cans may be independently pierced by and supported on the respective inlet ends of the spout apparatus.

    • An apparatus is disclosed for dispensing a liquid packaged in a thermoplastic film pouch into a receptacle therefor. The apparatus comprises: (a) a funnel portion terminating at its outlet end in a spout, the spout being adapted to fit into an opening in the receptacle, (b) a pouch receiving portion integrally joined to the funnel portion at its inlet end and forming an extension of at least one side thereof, (c) a pouch support in the pouch receiving portion, the pouch support extending into the funnel portion and being adapted to support on its upper surface a pouch of liquid such that an ear thereof projects over the pouch support into the funnel portion, (d) cutting blades movably positioned beneath the end of the pouch support extending into the funnel, the cutting blades being adapted to be moved from their position beneath the end of the pouch support to a position further into the funnel portion so as to cut open the ear of the pouch, and (e) a coil spring connected to the cutting blades adapted to automatically return the cutting blades to their position beneath the end of the pouch support. The apparatus is useful for purposes such as: (1) dispensing motor oil into the crankcases of motor vehicles; (2) dispensing ethylene glycol antifreeze into the radiators of motor vehicles; and (3) dispensing windshield washer antifreeze and brake fluid into the respective containers therefor on motor vehicles.

    • By employing two integrated components which cooperate to achieve a product dispensing trigger assembly, and mounting these two components to a container within which the desired product is retained and on which a desired seal is mounted, a unique fluid product holding and dispensing system is realized. In the present invention, the fluid product holding and dispensing system possesses two separate and distinct locked positions which assures that the system is retained in either locked position, until change is desired by the user. As a result, accidental or unwanted activation of the system is completely eliminated and users are assured that the product retained and sealed in the container remains sealed until use is desired and accidental opening or rupturing of the seal is completely eliminated. In addition, by employing the two-component fluid product holding and dispensing trigger assembly of this invention, an easily manufactured, reasonably priced system is attained which is capable of providing consistent, dependable, repeatable results.
