    • This safety system includes: a toothed wheel, connected rotationally with respect to at least one rotating member to be braked, a worm driven rotationally by a motor upon rotation of the rotating member and permanently in mesh with the toothed wheel, a housing forming: a longitudinal wall located on the side of the worm diametrically opposed to the toothed wheel, and extending along the worm at a distance of the latter ranging between 0.001 and 0.01 times the diameter of the worm, and a first end wall integral with the longitudinal wall, located opposite a first longitudinal end of the worm; and energy absorption/dissipation elements interposed between the first end wall and the first longitudinal end of the worm, the worm being slidingly mounted in the housing such that the first longitudinal end of the worm comes closer to the first end wall when the worm slides in the housing.

    • Pulley hoists are disclosed which provide moving anchor hooks that are suspended by two "pulls" of rope, and which may be fabricated by a single part. Anchor hooks are also disclosed which have multiple, independently movable hook portions so that certain large objects may be moved using a sole power unit having said anchor hooks at either end thereof. The anchor hooks of the present invention are also provided with tension indicator apparatuses and safety apparatuses in the event of the overloading of the device. Safety apparatus and sound alarm apparatus are also provided on the power units of the pulley hoists of the present invention in the event of the overloading of the device.

    • A winch mounted to an automobile bumper and comprising a cable winding drum rotatably mounted between a main drive housing and an opposite end idler housing. The main drive housing has a main lower section of integral box-like construction and an open top closed by an upper housing section. The drive end of the drum and an intermediate drive member are inserted laterally into the lower housing through access openings, and are retained in place by a downwardly inserted retaining plate. The remaining drive components are inserted into the lower housing section through the top opening or positioned in the upper housing section. This construction provides for easy assembly of the drive components, with box-like construction of the main housing being better able to withstand the substantial force loads exerted thereon.
