    • A ventilator in a cover for a deck on a boat. A base of the ventilator has first openings therein through which the deck is connected to a chamber formed by the first intermediary member and the base. A motor retained in the first intermediary member has a fan that is located in the chamber to expel air from the deck to the surrounding environment by way of second openings therein and third openings in a second intermediary member. A projection in the first intermediary member receives a connector from a solar panel that is located in an end member. The end member is joined to the first intermediary member to align the second and third openings with the chamber and the connector with the motor such that the fan is activated when light is received by the solar panel and air is continually thereafter drawn from the deck.

    • A system and method is disclosed for creating and/or maintaining an electrical load on a diesel engine generator for use on a marine vessel in order to avoid the harmful effects of no-load or low-load operation of the diesel engine. The parasitic load bank system 10 utilizes the heat transfer fluid 23 contained in the closed circulation loop 28 of a chille7d-fluid air conditioning system 14 for creating and/or maintaining the electrical load on the diesel engine generator 12 by utilizing a load bank controller 44 for diverting a portion 23c of the heat transfer fluid 23a being supplied to the vessel's air handlers 42 into heat exchange relationship with the heat transfer fluid 20b discharged from the air conditioning system's source of heat transfer 18 such that the heat exchanged heat transfer fluid 23f activates the source of heat transfer 18, which may be a chiller, reverse-cycle chiller or heat pump, to create an electrical power demand on the diesel engine generator 12.

    • An air conditioning apparatus suitable for use in small boats having enclosed cabins, comprising an insulated compartment; a cooling coil having an inner surface and an outer surface; a small pump for causing a liquid cooling fluid to travel along a defined flow path leading from the insulated compartment, across the inner surface of the cooling coil, and back to the insulated compartment; and a means for causing air to flow across the outer surface of the cooling coil in heat exchange relationship with the cooling fluid. The cooling fluid is cooled by contact with a slowly melting frozen material stored inside the insulated compartment. No on-board vapor compression refrigeration cycle like those used in conventional marine air conditioning systems is used for either chilling the cooling fluid or refreezing the frozen material after it melts. This leads to a significant decrease in power requirements.

    • An air flow device for positioning in the rear windows of closed motor vehicles and boats. The device has a frame which fits within the window or an unclosed portion of the window. Means are provided for attaching the device frame to the window frame. A transparent plate is attached at its bottom to the bottom portion of the device frame on its side inside of the motor vehicle. The transparent plate is positioned at its top away from the top of the device frame (or the vertical plane of the window). A gap exists between the top of the device frame and the top of the plate. There are two side members, each of which is attached to a set of corresponding ends of the device frame and the plate. The side members prevent lateral air flow into the motor vehicle.
