    • A flush out razor cleanable by water includes a handle with a water inlet port. A manifold is provided connected to the handle opposite from and in flow communication with the water inlet port. The manifold has a water outlet. A blade cartridge is preferably sealably located at the manifold outlet wherein the cartridge supports at least one razor blade. The cartridge has water flush out ports in flow communication with the manifold adjacent above and below the blade to flush out and clean the razor with water passing through the handle.

    • A magnetic shaving system includes a pre-trimming solution containing particles having magnetic properties and a shaving apparatus having a magnet. The shaving apparatus may include only a magnet or may include a magnet in proximity of a typical razor blade. The pre-trimming solution is applied to the desired area and the magnetic shaving apparatus is applied over the solution. The magnetic solution surround the hairs and causes the hairs to be drawn toward the magnetic shaving apparatus and away from the skin, yielding a more comfortable and effective shave.

    • A shaving unit that comprises at least one blade and a skin engaging member that has a surface for engaging the user's skin adjacent the blade edge is described herein. The shaving unit may be of a disposable cartridge type adapted for coupling to and uncoupling from a razor handle or may be integral with a handle so that the complete razor is discarded as a unit when the blade or blades become dulled. The blade edge (or edges) cooperate with skin engaging surfaces to define a shaving geometry. The skin engaging member is comprised of an elongated sheath (or skin engaging layer) made of a mixture of water insoluble matrix and an effective amount of shaving aid and a rigid core (or non-skin engaging layer) extending axially through out said sheath. The axial position of the core need not be through the central axis.

    • A shaving device with one or more shaving blades. Sensors are attached to (or near) the blades which produce a shaving signal. A processor or intelligent analysis unit then receives the shaving signal and determines what shaving changes should be made. An audible indicator is coupled to the processor to inform the user of the shaving changes needed. The audible indicator is a speech playback unit, or it produces an audible sound or tone. In the alternative, a visual indicator can be used, such as a liquid crystal (LCD) or a light emitting diode (LED) display, which informs the user of the shaving changes needed.

    • A shaving system for use with mechanical hand-held shavers includes a housing in which is disposed a DC motor, an eccentric weight coupled to a shaft of the motor, and a DC power source. The eccentric weight and motor shaft are oriented such that the axis of vibrations produced by the motor are parallel to an axis of the cutting edge of a razor blade attached to a handle in mechanical vibratory communication with the motor. The result is vibratory displacement of the razor blade, typically back-and-forth, over a range approximating the dimension of a human hair. In one embodiment a housing accepts the handle of a generic shaver, and in a second embodiment the housing is bifurcated and the handle of a shaver.
