摘要： A valve for controlling the flow of a gas therethrough which requires no machining in order to attain an effective seal between the valve seating surface and a rotatable plug element. The valve seat surface remains as cast while the plug consists of an overmolded plastic. The overmolding defines an array of pliable sealing ridges. The use of overmolding facilitates the use of cost-saving plastic materials, and obviates the need for expensive machining of the cooperating surfaces.

摘要： A controlling member (a controlling pin 10) is inserted through an insertion hole 7 of a mold 1 and projected into a cavity 6. After a pipe P as an insert member is arranged at a predetermined position in the cavity 6, the pipe P is held in the cavity 6 by inserting a tip of the controlling pin 10 into a hole h of the pipe P at the end p1, or by inserting the end p1 of the pipe P into a cave 21 of the controlling member. A molten aluminum alloy is then poured through a gate 5 into the cavity 6 under such the condition, to enclose the pipe P with the aluminum alloy. Dislocation of the pipe P caused by kinetic and thermal energies of the poured aluminum alloy is suppressed by the controlling pin 10 or block 20 at the end p1. Since the enclosed pipe P has its end p1 opened at a predetermined position, a cast product obtained in this way can be used as a brake caliper or the like having an inner hydraulic circuit.

摘要： A self-contained crucible assembly for forming a weld between a pair of metal articles, includes a container with side walls and a fusible bottom, a refractory material lining the side walls, an exothermic weld material within the container, an ignitor partially within or close to the weld material and partially external to the container, and a cover sealing the weld material. The ignitor may be stiffened to maintain its shape, and keep it in a desired position relative to the exothermic weld material. The crucible assembly is configured to be placed on mold having a chamber therein. Upon ignition of the weld material via actuation of the ignitor, the weld material reacts exothermically to produce molten weld metal and slag. The fusible bottom of the container is melted by the liquified molten metal, and the weld material flows into a weld chamber of the mold to produce the weld.

摘要： At least one aspect of the present invention relates to an improved method of incorporating fluid lines in a spray-formed article. The method comprises forming a first component having a backing surface followed by placing a fluid defining flexible conduit adjacent the backing surface. Next, metal droplets are sprayed over the backing surface to from a metallic adhesion layer. The metal droplets used to form the adhesion layer are sprayed in a sufficient amount that the adhesion layer at least partially encapsulates the flexible conduit whereby the conduit is fastened to the backing surface by the metallic adhesion layer. Also provided by the present invention is an article made in accordance with a method of the invention.
