    • A rotary filter of the type described in U.S. Pat. No. 4,193,875 in which each of the filter disks, axially spaced on the rotating shaft, is subdivided into a plurality of sections or cells and each of the sections is connected by a tube to a fluid distributor or control head for evacuation, pressurization or the like. According to the invention, each of the passages connecting each section with the control head is formed by a unitary tube having an axially extending section, a bend and a radial section connected by the bend to the axial section. In the control head a disk fixed to the hollow shaft is provided in which the ends of the axial sections terminate removably and sealingly. The radial sections are fixed to the filter-segment carriers, e.g. by flanges and screws or bolts through these flanges.

    • Liquid/solids feed to be filtered is uniformly distributed over a filter surface by (i) initially, continuously introducing said liquid/solids feed into the feeder compartment of a compartmentalized, partitioned feed-distribution box, said feeder compartment having a volume such that no decantation results, (ii) continuing such feed as to effect an overflow of feed from said feeder compartment into a second, distribution compartment, over a partition or common wall member therebetween, via a plurality of outlet openings shaped into the top of said partition along the length thereof and being sufficiently few in number such that the rate of flow of the liquid/solids stream flowing through each opening is high, and (iii) thence uniformly cascading the entire flow of liquid/solids stream to be filtered onto suitable filter surface, advantageously after a change in the downward direction thereof.

    • A shower pipe for a rotary drum filter includes first and second parallel rows of spray holes which extend along the length of the pipe. The holes in one row are staggered with respect to the holes in the other row, with both rows being positioned circumferentially in the same quadrant of the pipe. Each spray hole has its own separate fan-shaped diffusion flange extending in a generally parabolic curve from the adjacent hole. Each spray hole may be formed by a premolded plastic sleeve-like insert which is inserted through and seated within prebored holes in a section of the pipe. Each insert defines a spray hole or nozzle for discharging liquid under pressure from the pipe onto its associated diffusion flange. Each diffusion flange member may be premolded to include a female threaded upper portion which threads onto a male threaded projectng portion of the insert extending from the outer wall of the pipe.

    • An apparatus is disclosed for feeding a rotary filter with suspension by continuous flow to separate the solid and liquid phases of the suspension. The rotary filter apparatus includes at least one disc having filtering surfaces formed of a plurality of sectors fixed on a hollow horizontal driveshaft passing through the axis of the disc. The sectors are arranged to dip sequentially into a trough containing the suspension. The driveshaft serves for discharge of the liquid phase, and includes distributor means providing filtration, drainage and blowing stages acting sequentially on the sectors during the rotation of the discs. The apparatus for continuously feeding the suspension to the rotary filter includes (a) a suspension feed chamber provided with a suspension intake and two regulatable outlet openings; (b) two horizontal feed channels, each communicating with one of the outlet openings, each of the feed channels being disposed along a face of the disc opposite to the other feed channel, above the horizontal plane passing through the axis of rotation of the driveshaft, and extending horizontally no further than the axis of rotation; (c) each horizontal channel being formed by at least a side wall and a floor which is provided with means for regulating the distribution of the suspension over the corresponding surface of the disc by adjusting the distance between the floor and the corresponding face of the disc.
