    • A closure device for shelters and the like. The frame (1) of the closure device is provided with at least one flow-through passage (2); a closure (3) is mounted displaceably in each passage; and a counter part is formed in the frame for each closure. The closure is displaceable between an open position, which permits a normal air flow, and a closed position, which may be caused by a pressure shock, in which the closure means is pressed against the counter part so as to close the respective passage. The objective is to provide a simple and steady structure, the operation of which is as efficient as possible. Accordingly, the passage (2) is defined by substantially U-shaped elements/partial elements (5a, 5b) which open towards each other in the direction of flow. The element/partial element (5a and 5b respectively) on the incoming side of a flow (A or B) is arranged to function as a flow guide element, and the element/partial element (5b and 5a, respectively) on the exhaust side of the flow (A or B) is arranged to function as a suppressing element for the pressure shock.

    • The valve device adjustably controls air flow through a mechanical ventilation duct, blocks propagation of flames through the duct, and selectively exhausts smoke through the duct. An air extraction terminal sleeve communicates with the ventilation duct and is provided with an outwardly facing valve seat. A support is mounted in the sleeve inwardly of the valve seat and an elongated guide extends adjustably through the support. An obturator is mounted on the guide outwardly of the support for adjustably controlling the flow area into the terminal sleeve, and includes an outwardly convex dome member fixedly secured to the outer end of the guide, and an inwardly convex valve member having conforming seating engagement with the dome member and arranged to conformingly engage the valve seat to block flow into the terminal sleeve. The valve member is slidable on the guide, and a pair of oppositely wound coil springs surround the guide within the obturator and bias the valve member to separate from the dome member to engage the valve seat. A pin engaged with the guide restrains separation of the dome and valve members and releases such restraint responsive to detection of a fire whereby the valve member is disengaged from the dome member to engage the valve seat to block the terminal sleeve. The interior surfaces of the dome and valve members are lined with insulating layers, and the valve member has apertures therein covered by the associated insulating layer. By removal of this insulating layer and disengagement of the pin, the valve member may be separated from the dome member so that smoke may be exhausted through the duct.

    • A protective damper for controlling the flow of fluid through a ceiling diffuser has a frame defining an opening through which the fluid flows. A barrier has a closed position which prevents the flow of fluid through the opening and an open position which allows fluid flow through the opening. The barrier is restricted to linear movement between the open and closed positions. A spring is operably coupled with a shaft and exerts a bias on the shaft tending to rotate the shaft on its longitudinal axis in one direction. An actuator is operably coupled with the shaft and rotates the shaft about its longitudinal axis in the opposite direction when the actuator is energized. An elongated rigid element is pivotally coupled with the shaft and with the barrier, respectively. The rigid element is for pulling the barrier by the shaft into the closed position when the shaft is rotated in the one direction and for pushing the barrier into the open position when the shaft is rotated by the actuator in the opposite direction.

    • A closing device with a valve having a high speed reaction. A dome shaped valve is forced open by applying pressure to a piston which is attached to the dome. The opening pressure is provided by an electromagnetic jack and is transmitted through a lock which has a releasing threshhold. The displacement of the piston biases a return spring into a compressed state. Force applied to the lock by a solenoid counteracts the force of the return spring so as to keep the lock locked and thus keep the dome open. When enough force is applied to the dome so as to overcome the threshhold of the lock, or if the lock is intentionally released, the piston is freed and the return spring quickly forces the dome to a closed position.
