摘要： A condensing and alignment device for preparing cloth elements to be joined together. The device comprises a base and a support on the base for a row of needle blocks in side-by-side relationship. At least two fabric engaging needles extend vertically upwardly on each needle block. A resilient O-ring is mounted on each needle block facing and abutting an adjacent needle block in the row, the needle blocks of the row being spaced from each other by the O-rings. A condensing cylinder is located at one end of the needle block row and is operatively attached to at least that needle block at the opposite end of the row. The needle blocks of the row are shiftable by the condensing cylinder from their normal position determined by the O-rings to a condensed position against the action of the O-rings. A press is mounted above the needle block row and is shiftable between an upper retracted position above the needle block row and a lower extended position abutting the needle blocks of the row. The press is connected to a source of steam. The base, adjacent the needle block row, is provided with a plurality of perforations connected to a source of vacuum.

摘要： In an apparatus for spreading and cutting layups of sheet material pin mechanisms are distributed over the supporting surface of the table and include pins moveable between raised and lowered positions to enable selected portions of the supporting surface to be adapted, or not, to a spreading procedure involving the pinning of each layer as it is spread. The supporting surface is divided into sections and the pin mechanisms of each section are operated in unison by a control element located on the side wall of the table with each control element being aligned with its associated section of the table so as to be quickly and easily operable by an operator without the operator having to give great thought or attention to which pin mechanisms are operated by which switch. The pins passing through a layup being cut by the cutter are automatically lowered upon the cutter approaching the pins to avoid collision between the pins and the cutter. This latter function can be defeated, if desired, to allow the cutter to be passed over a layup in a noncutting mode without pins being withdrawn from the layup.

摘要： An apparatus for clamping fabric or apparel such as trousers comprises a stationary support member vertically mounted on a wheeled platform, and an adjustable clamp member pivotally supported by the support member, the two members forming the jaws of a clamp. An outwardly extending cam formed on the adjustable clamp member extends toward the stationary support member to cooperate with an actuation rod for moving the clamp member. The rod is pivotally mounted on the support member to slidingly engage the surface of the cam. As the actuation rod is operated to slide downwardly along the cam surface, the adjustable clamp member rotates with respect to the stationary support member closing the jaws of the clamp. A pawl is formed on the actuation rod and positioned to engage a ratchet assembly mounted on the platform to lock the adjustable clamp member to hold the fabric or apparel. A foot operated release moves the ratchet out of engagement with the pawl to unlock the adjustable clamp member, thereby providing a positive release of the jaws of the clamp.

摘要： A flexible material holding device comprising: an elastic band and a pair of clips secured to the ends of the band and adapted to engage and removably retain the ends of a flexible material cover for the purpose of removably retaining it in place on an object or objects on which it is mounted. Each of the clips comprises a pair of pivotably connected arms having gripping portions that are biased into engagement by a spring member. The gripping portion of each arm comprises a concave section which merges with a convex end section. The end of the gripping portion of one clip overlaps the end of the gripping portion of the other clip. The concave and convex sections of the one clip are adapted to engage the convex and concave sections, respectively, of the other clip so that flexible material inserted between the gripping portions of the clip arms is gripped in two places by each of the clips. The reverse curvature of the clip arms facilitates the insertion of the flexible material between the gripping portions thereof, prevents tearing of the flexible material retained therebetween, and increases the gripping ability of the clips.
