    • An oven having a cooking chamber which has a pair of opposing sidewalls and a rear wall member having a pair of end portions and a protruding portion between the end portions. First and second stationary heaters are located within lower and upper portions, respectively, of the cooking chamber and a pair of movable heaters located between the first and second stationary heaters. Each movable heater is movably attached to a corresponding one of the end portions of the rear wall member and movable between a resting position and a heating position. Each movable heater is adjacent to a corresponding sidewall when the movable heater is in the resting position. A manually operated mechanical drive system moves both movable heaters simultaneously between the resting position and the heating position. Rack support members are attached to the sidewalls for supporting a lower rack below the movable heaters and an upper rack above the movable heaters.

    • The present invention provides an apparatus to support an electrical heating element installed in an oven and extending generally horizontally therethrough from one side of the oven to the opposite side thereof for heating an oven cavity to bake or broil food set inside the oven cavity. The oven cavity has side walls, a top wall and a bottom wall. The apparatus and heating element are located below the bottom wall of the oven cavity. The apparatus includes at least one support bracket extending horizontally in the oven and has a plurality of openings formed therein each of which is generally presented in the upward vertical direction and sized to receive the heating element. The support bracket also has a plurality of standoffs generally presented in the upward vertical direction and having a height sufficient to prevent the bottom wall of the oven cavity from coming in contact with the heating element.

    • A baking oven includes a metallic baking oven muffle that can be closed off on a front side by a door. The muffle walls have heating elements for heating the cooking chamber to over approximately 180° C. and/or for heating the food disposed therein to be cooked. The muffle has a protective layer covering the muffle walls at least on the inner side. To improve the use properties of the baking oven muffle, the thickness of the protective layer is less than approximately 30 &mgr;m. The protective layer is formed as a hard sol-gel layer having a thickness of approximately 10 &mgr;m, preferably, between approximately 5 and 10 &mgr;m. The protective layer is transparent. The inner sides of the muffle serve as a reflector. A functional sol-gel layer is disposed on the hard sol-gel layer. The functional sol-gel layer has a thickness of approximately 10 &mgr;m, preferably, 2 to 3 &mgr;m. When the muffle is aluminum, the protective layer is an anodized aluminum oxide layer. The heating elements are applied to an insulating protective layer with thick-film technology. A stabilizing frame is substantially formed by the baking-oven muffle insulation. The frame supports the muffle on its outside. A muffle wall thickness is approximately 0.3 to 0.5 mm, preferably, 0.4 mm. Protective layer thickness is less than 20 &mgr;m, preferably, between approximately 5 and 10 &mgr;m.
