摘要： A sap collecting device includes a top end, a bottom end, and a sidewall extending between the top and bottom ends. The sidewall defines a generally tapering cross-sectional profile as the sidewall extends from the bottom end toward the top end. At least a portion of the bottom end is open, and the sidewall defines a notch along a location between the top portion and the bottom portion to provide a handle for holding the sap collecting device. A keyhole is located on the sidewall that is configured to engage a tap. The keyhole is positioned generally below the notch defined by the sidewall and is communication with the open portion of the bottom end.

The base is resiliently deformable such that in a non-deformed state, a radius of curvature of the base is smaller than an outer radius of the collector pipe and a distance between the platforms is smaller than a diameter of the collector pipe. The platforms is displaceable away from each other to vary the distance between them to mount the connector and to exert a clamping force on the collector pipe. The connector has a connecting member engaging the feeder pipe. A piping network is also disclosed.

摘要： A maple sap line system and method for spin welding provides secure, unobstructed lines for collecting sap by creating a hermetically sealed connection between a lateral line and a mainline. A fitting connects the mainline to the lateral line. The fitting is spin welded to the mainline at a contact interface. The fitting comprises a protruding member that easily melts to create the frictional weld. The fitting has an elongated body comprising barbs that receive the lateral line. The fitting has a channel that enables fluid communication between the mainline and the lateral line. The flanges in the fitting register with a chuck to rotate the fitting against the main line at a high rpm. Molten debris formed in the channel is dislodged by drilling with a collared drill. The drilling provides fluid communication and creates a smooth inner surface in the mainline, and cuts off flanges from the fitting.

摘要： This is an original design of a small diameter maple spile. It is designed to facilitate sap movement from any sap-producing tree into the tubing. Two o-rings provide additional sealing surfaces to safeguard against leaks and increase spile visibility. Design and material provide a more hygienic connection between the tree and tubing, compared to the connection of a larger spile, which is more easily contaminated. The small size diameter of the tap hole causes less damage to the tree and consequently allows swift healing. The smaller tap hole also promotes tree health by lessening risks of bacterial and fungal infection. The linear design of this spile allows for ease of cleaning by ultrasonic means and indefinite reuse.

摘要： Disclosed is a device for maple sap harvesting, which includes an assembly of a tubular sleeve which is removably mounted inside a tubular section of a tap. The tubular sleeve may be molded from a food-grade, anti-bacterial material. The tubular sleeve is inserted into the tap before the tap is driven into a maple tree. When the tap is removed from the tree at the conclusion of the sap harvest period, the sleeve may be discarded. The next season, a new sleeve is placed in the tap, with the new sleeve containing no residual bacterial contamination from the previous season of use.
