    • An adjustable ridger for a cultivator includes an elongated ridger frame adapted to mount to the sweep member of the cultivator. The frame has a top bracket with an elongated slot extending therethrough. The slot has a width and a longitudinal axis. A plurality of setting holes in the top bracket are spaced apart along the longitudinal axis of the slot, each setting hole having a diameter greater than the width of the slot. A bottom bracket is spaced apart from the top bracket on the frame and has a guide hole therein. An elongated pull pin, having a stepped outer diameter with first and second diameter portions, is insertable through the slot in the top bracket and into the guide hole in the bottom bracket to act as a hinge pin. The second diameter portion is larger than the first diameter portion and yet smaller than the diameter of the setting holes. At least one wing pivotally mounts on the pull pin between the top and bottom brackets. Thus, the wing can be angularly adjusted relative to the frame by partially withdrawing the pull pin from the top bracket, moving it to a new setting hole, and allowing the second diameter portion of the spring-loaded pin to be urged into the desired setting hole. This adjustment mechanism does not require disassembly of the ridger wing assembly or removal of the pull pin from the guide hole.

    • An inter-row crop cultivator for use particularly in severe residue conditions such as in minimum tillage conservation applications is disclosed. A leading gauge wheel providing support and soil surface tracking is immediately trailed by two laterally displaced discs which cut away from the row. Aft of the two cutaway discs and directly to the rear of the gauge wheel is a stabilizing and cutting coulter which prevents side to side sway while cutting and reducing residue ahead of a sweep shank which directly trails the cutting coulter. By severing and dividing the residue, the cutting coulter permits the residue to flow over the sweep and around the shank. The shank is adapted to receive an anhydrous ammonia applicator and knife assembly which may be easily and securely mounted to the shank. A plurality of such inter-row crop cultivators may be mounted on a tool bar. A winged ridger/bedder may be either positioned in a non-use or storage position above the soil on the shank or slid down the shank to a use position in contact with the soil for forming the loosened soil and residue into parallel ridges over the newly formed rows in preparing a seed bed for later planting. Various selectively adjustable controls are provided for setting gauge wheel height, stabilizing and cutting coulter height, cutaway disc separation and height, the downward pressure applied to the working implements, and implement deflection cushion tension permitting implement deflection upon impact with an obstruction.

    • The specification disclosures a minimum tillage tool for performing the final pre-planting tillage of prepared soil. Such tool includes a row capping blade for cleaning and shaping the top of a row and a pair of side forming blades for cleaning and shaping the lateral sides of the row. The side forming blades have lateral extending trail ends for urging soil and vegetation away from the sides of the row as it is formed. In one embodiment, a plurality of pivoted laterally extending blades are provided for pulverizing the soil forming the row to prepare it for planting.
