    • An operating device with an operating lever for a control valve includes: an input member connected to the operating lever; an output member connected to a slide spool of the control valve; and a swing link for relaying a displacement of the input member to the output member. The swing link is swingable about a swing shaft center on one end and is connected to the input and output members. A latch portion in the swing link is farther than a connecting point with the output member from the swing shaft center. A lock body is switchably operable between a lock position and a release position, and at the lock position, engaged with the latch portion at a neutral position to limit a swing of the swing link about the swing shaft center by which the control valve is locked at a neutral state.

    • A shifting device for transmitting shift commands to an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle is provided with a shifting device body or housing, a selector axis and a said shift axis, which are arranged at right angles to one another, and with a gearshift lever. The gear shift lever is mounted pivotably in relation to its neutral position within at least one outer right-hand shift gate and an outer left-hand shift gate. A device for transmitting shift commands based on a movement of the gearshift lever to the automatic transmission is also provided. At least two separate locking levers are provided, pivotable around an auxiliary axis each, which is a rigid part of the housing. The at least two separate locking levers can be engaged by the gearshift lever indirectly or directly.

    • A shifter system includes an automatic transmission shifter lever movable along a first shift path in forward and rearward directions and a transfer case shifter lever movable along a second shift path in the forward and rearward directions. The automatic transmission shifter lever is also movable in lateral directions to provide an auto stick option. The second shift path is laterally adjacent the first shift path a short distance to reduce space. An interlock mechanism is provided to prevent contact between the shifter levers. The interlock mechanism includes a blocker pivotable between a locking position wherein the blocker limits movement of the transfer case shifter lever along the second shift path and an unlocking position wherein the blocker does not limit movement of the transfer case shifter lever along the second shift path.

    • A control function splitter for controlling a clutch and gearbox assembly and a throttle, particularly in marine applications. The splitter has main and override throttle shafts, and a clutch operating shaft connected to engine and assembly inputs. The splitter has a cam which moves axially to reflect control head signals. The cam has portions representing travel for gear engagement only with no throttle change, and travel between idle and full throttle with no gear change. A motion converting structure converts axial cam movement to limited clutch shaft rotation. An interlock between the clutch shaft and override throttle shaft prevents rotation of the clutch operating shaft unless both throttle shafts are at idle, and also prevents rotation of the override throttle shaft unless the clutch shaft is in neutral. The splitter reduces previous problems associated with non-lineality between a control head signal and the corresponding throttle output signal, and also improves positive "feel" of gear selection. Also, tendency of engine speed governor to cause speed setting to creep is markedly reduced.

    • An apparatus and method for converting an internal-linkage type of a transfer case from single lever to dual lever control includes a sleeve that is adapted for placement into a housing of the transfer case. A pivot pin is disposed in the sleeve and defines a pivot axis. The pivot pin passes through a first pivot hole in a first arm and a second pivot hole in a second arm. The first arm includes a first arcuate end at one end thereof and the second arm includes a second arcuate end at one end thereof. The first and second arcuate ends are each adapted to cooperate with a member in the transfer case sufficient for the first arm to select either a two or a four wheel drive mode and for the second arm to select either a high or a low gear range when the first and second arms are pivoted about the axis. A first and a second shift lever are attached to the first and second arms and a protective boot covers at least a portion of the housing.
