    • A cutting device is provided which can simultaneously achieve a shorter machining time, lower machining resistance during cutting, and high-precision machining. To be specific, the cutting device of the present invention includes a three-axis tool unit including a first actuator operating in a u direction, a second actuator operating in a v direction orthogonal to the u direction, a third actuator operating in a w direction orthogonal to the u direction and the v direction, a tool holder disposed at the intersection of the u direction, the v direction, and the w direction, a tool mounted in the tool holder, and three sensors for measuring the displacements of the first, second, and third actuators, respectively and feeding back displacement signals representing the measured displacements, wherein the first, second, and third actuators of the three-axis tool unit vibrate so as to perform vibration cutting on a work material.

    • A slam type locking mechanism is described. The locking mechanism allows a storage container with the locking mechanism to be slammed shut in a single motion. The operator may slam the lid or door to the container using a single hand that is only pressing or pushing the lid or door closed. The slam type locking mechanism includes a lock having a lock housing, a paddle handle, and a spring loading mechanism. The paddle handle is rotatably engaged to the spring loading mechanism. The rods are in a rotational engagement with the lock, wherein the rods have an offset that interacts with a striker on the container or lid in a locking relationship.

    • A locking mechanism of the barb type is provided for releasably locking two elements together. One of the elements has two pairs of opposed barbs or hook type resilient members. The barbs or hooks of each pair facing each other and being spaced apart. The other element has a pair of opposed, spaced ledges with downwardly facing surfaces engageable, in a locking relationship, with the barbs. An appropriate size opening is provided in the first element above the opposed pairs of barbs. The opening is a round central portion and a pair of side lobes coextensive with the opposed pairs of barbs. A separate key having a central rotational axis is provided. The key has a handle, an intermediate round portion connected to a working end portion, and generally oval in shape or cross section. The key is insertable in the opening such that the narrow part of the oval portion rests between the pairs of opposed barbs. The key is rotated around its axis in either direction to simultaneously urge both pairs of opposed barbs away from each other and out of engagement with the ledges to unlock the mechanism. The key can be rotated to a central stable position to lock the barbs in an open or unlocked position.

    • The vehicle locking apparatus is used in a vehicle having a motor compartment, a motor therein, a hood for the compartment and a starting system for the motor. A safe compartment is positioned within the passenger compartment, and includes a lockable door. A switch within the safe disconnects the starting system from the motor when the door is closed. A hood lock has an actuator within the safe which is positioned to lock the hood when the door is closed. The safe compartment has an outer shell of heavy gauge metal interconnected with an inner shell of heavy gauge metal. The door is locked by a locking cam which is received in a slot on the inner shell and a slot on an inwardly extending projection of the door. When the door is closed the motor cannot be started and the hood is locked. The slots provide a double locking action making it difficult to force the door open when the safe compartment is locked.Additionally, the door may include an inwardly extending projection with a slot therein to receive the locking cam. The locking cam may, thus, provide a double locking action for the door.
