    • A train apparatus for removing thick blister buildups from an underground fiber conduit used for housing power cables. The train apparatus includes three or more cutting units including an initial, a middle and a final cutting unit having smallest, medium and largest overall cutting diameters respectively. Each cutting unit having a lead guide and six cutting stars each having four cutting blades where the cutting blades on one cutting star are offset with the cutting blades on the other cutting stars. When pulled through the fiber conduit, the lead guide of the cutting units will prevent the cutting unit from going off the center of the conduit and digging itself into the interior sidewall of the conduit. The initial, middle and final cutting units will remove respectively the surface, the intermediate and the underneath portions sequentially. The train apparatus further includes a trailing guide for preventing it from going off center of the conduit and digging itself into the interior sidewall of the conduit. When the train gets stuck inside the fiber conduit and it is necessary to pull it out backwardly, a cable will be attached to the trailing guide for this purpose.

    • A scarfing tool for scarfing the inside of a tube-like member in which an elongated body is adapted for attachment to the end of an impeder rod. The body includes a cutting tool and a pair of spaced apart rollers aligned with the cutting tool. A thrust roller is pivotably mounted to the side of the body opposite from the cutting tool and rollers to force the cutting tool against the inner area of the tube member to be scarfed. A pair of first and second hydraulic means having associated pistons which are connected to a common source of hydraulic fluid. The first hydraulic piston is operably connected to said thrust roller for actuating said roller into extended contact with the inner tube member and the second piston is operably connected to a bias means to work against said means as the thrust roller is extended by the first hydraulic piston.

    • An hydraulically supported, resiliently mounted anvil engages one side of a tube as the tube passes along a feed path between the anvil and an oscillating roll. A barrel-shaped mandrel is positioned interiorally of the tube and is held by a cable at a location between the oscillating roll and the anvil. During each revolution of the oscillating roll, the tube is compressed between the roll and the anvil, and opposite tube walls are clamped against the mandrel to smooth the internal tube surface. The mandrel and the anvil are resiliently mounted to permit their moving a short distance downstream with the tube when the tube is compressed by the roll. The compressive forces applied to the tube are controlled by regulating the hydraulic pressure which supports the anvil.

    • Tool includes a frame having a substantially U-shape opening adjacent one edge for receiving the wall of a welded pipe having an inside burr therealong. The tool is adapted to be suspended in vertical position from an overhead support for movement toward and away from the interior of the end of a pipe and includes a reciprocating tool carriage mounted in its U-shape opening. The carriage is attached to and powered by a pressure fluid cylinder, mounted on the frame, for movement along a way in the U-shape opening. A cutter projects from the tool carriage and is adapted to remove the burr when the tool carriage is moved from a position adjacent the open end of the U-shape opening to a position inwardly of the open end of the opening. A pair of fluid cylinder actuated shoes is provided on the frame for engaging the outer contour of the pipe so as to clamp it between the pair of shoes and another pair of shoes which depend from the tool carriage and engage the inner contour of the pipe astride the burr. Thus the pipe is firmly held when the cutting tool is moved to cut away the end portion of the inside burr.
