    • A drill bit has a cylindrical drill head (1) having two essentially diametrically situated primary cutting edges (2) and chip channels (3) associated therewith. The outer surface (5) of the drill head is formed by curved sections (6) whose end faces (4) have teeth (8) which extend in the axial direction (A) and have cutting edges (7) and cutting faces (9). The cutting faces (9) run at an acute angle in the cutting direction (S) and are set back with respect to a radial line (L) passing through the cutting edge (7). The teeth are formed by crenellated elements (8) which with one of their respective side walls form a cutting face (9) of the cutting edges (7). The side walls (10) of the adjoining crenellated element (8) opposite from the cutting face (9) runs parallel to the cutting face (9).

    • A drill bit has an annular cutting edge to form a hole in a workpiece. The drill bit is received within a drill and rotated above 20,000 revolutions per minute. A distal end of the drill bit defines an annular edge surrounding a hollow cavity. The annular edge both cuts and melts the workpiece during formation of the hole. The drill bit also defines an exit hole passing perpendicular to an axial center of the drill bit. The exit hole and the hollow cavity join within an interior of the drill bit to form a material passage way. Core material cut from the workpiece is collected within the hollow area of the drill bit during operation. Rotational forces of the drill bit eject the core material thus allowing the drill bit to cut multiple holes without manually removing core material from the hollow cavity.

    • The present invention refers to an apparatus for removing damaged portions of rubber components, in particular of steel-braced radial-ply tyres, including a driven and rotating tool. The tool (1) consists of a sleeve whose wall thickness tapers like a knife in the tool operating direction thus forming essentially an edge (9) and the front edge (9) of the tool has formed therein notches (7). It will be expedient when the outer circumferential surface (11) of the sleeve extends essentially parallel to the axis (13) thereof, and it will be expedient when the inner circumferential surface (15) extends at an oblique angle outwards in the front area of the sleeve. The sleeve can consist of a cutting crown (3) and of a carrier sleeve (5), the cutting crown (3) being preferably made of a material of high hardness, in particular of hard metal (FIG. 1).

    • Apparatus for cutting a circular hole in a workpiece having relatively low compression strength, including a hollow cylindrical drill having, at its outer terminal end, an annular cutting edge of a predetermined diameter for cutting a hole in the object. The drill includes a cylindrical wall having an axially inwardly converging sidewall portion for radially compressing the material severed from the object being cut and an inner cylindrical throat portion of a predetermined axial length and a predetermined reduced diameter for forming a continuous core of severed material. The cylindrical wall includes a tubular discharge section, axially inward of the throat and communicating with an open outlet end of the tubular member, to allow the compressed core to partially radially expand and freely axially pass. The diameter of the discharge tubular section is greater than the diameter of the throat portion but less than the diameter of the annular cutting edge.
