    • A check valve made up of a substantially rigid portion and a substantially flexible membrane that is generally dome shaped. The substantially rigid portion includes one or more spokes that meet in the center of the rigid portion and one or more partial spokes extending part way to the center of the rigid portion. The dome shaped, substantially flexible membrane also includes one or more flexible spokes and one or more collapse zones. The completed check valve is made by connecting a center portion of the substantially rigid portion to a center portion of the dome shaped, substantially flexible membrane.

    • A valve seat and valve guard are coupled together, and form a chamber therebetween within which a valving plate moves. A stud secures the seat and guard together, and has a bore formed therewithin for receiving a headed piston. The piston has a projecting rod which engages the valving plate, and a pilot hole formed in the stud addresses a pressured fluid thereinto for moving the piston, causing the rod to move the plate laterally in the chamber. Apertures in the seat, guard and plate align, when pressured fluid enters the seat apertures, as the plate rises from the seat, and combines with the lateral movement to displace the plate diagonally in the chamber.

    • The invention contemplates an improved air flow sensor including a proximity switch which has a metal disk mounted with respect to the sensing face to be movable by air flow in the action zone of the magnetic field as between a position adjacent the sensing face to a position away from the face or visa versa whereby the switch oscillator is off and on respectively at the two extremes to provide an indication of the condition. The air flow sensor is shown herein in apparatus to calculate breathing rate, in object detection apparatus, and in vacuum lift apparatus.

    • A compressor discharge valve assembly including a valve seat, a valve cage, and an annular ring-type valve operating therebetween. The valve cage includes a recess into which the valve retracts when in an open position, or in an alternative embodiment, the valve cage includes a lip portion for shielding the valve. In either embodiment, a reduction in valve flutter and the noise, known as chatter, which results from valve flutter is realized. The valve in alternative embodiments also includes an annular dished portion oriented toward the valve seat for directing the flow of discharge gas smoothly from the compressor and thereby further reducing valve chatter.
