摘要： A cushion that includes a cushioning element. The cushioning element has a number of substantially parallel elongate columns formed in a soft, easily deformable elastic or visco-elastic cushioning media. The columns are configured so that when a force is applied to the cushioning element in a direction that is generally parallel to the longitudinal axes of the columns, the cushioning element will yield by compressability or deformability of the cushioning media, bucklability of the walls of the columns, or a combination of both. In particular, the walls of columns which are located beneath a protruberance on an object being cushioned tend to buckle, permitting the cushioning element to conform to the shape of the cushioned object while evenly distributing a supporting force across the contact area of the cushioned object and avoiding pressure peaks. The preferred cushioning media is a gelatinous elastomer or gelatinous viscoelastomer. Various configurations of cushioning elements, including sidewall supports, are disclosed.

摘要： The apparatus is an animal mattress. One embodiment is a pad made from a relatively loose pack of long particle recycled tire rubber bonded together with a polymer. The spaces between the particles provide compressibility and resiliency. The pad has corrugations on the bottom, a flat top, and is covered by a waterproof polymer fabric cover when installed. A second embodiment uses fine particles which are more tightly packed. The central section of its bottom surface is undercut to form an inverted pan-like structure. The pan sides form a support frame, and a pattern of pillars is located within the pan so that the flat top is supported but compressible.

摘要： A bed pad, an automobile seat pad, a pillow or a similar cushionlike item having therapeutic effects similar to those of finger pressure therapy, a good airing function and an improved adaptability to the head or waist of the user is provided. A cushionlike item according to the present invention has a series of continuously arranged bag portions containing a large number of stuffing elements of synthetic resin. The pad has on its front surface a plurality of projections that can apply pressure or spot therapy to a user's body. The projections are secured to the pad by strings arranged zig-zag between the front and back surfaces of the pad. Upon pulling of the strings, the cushion can be tightened, causing the projections to stand firmly on the front surface.
