    • A device for protecting a microphone sensing surface, such as a diaphragm, from the detrimental effects of the ambient environment. The device incorporates a perforated surface to protect the microphone and in conjunction with a chamber volume creates an acoustic resonance in the 1 kHz to 20 kHz spectrum, which improves the microphone signal-to-noise ratio performance. The microphone is acoustically coupled to the chamber volume for sensing pressure of the ambient environment. There is no line of sight to the microphone sensing surface from the ambient environment, so that rain, wind and sand have no direct path to the microphone sensing surface. The perforations of the outer surface are small to prevent objects from contacting the microphone sensing surface via a direct path. Water drains from the chamber volume and does not become trapped if an embodiment of the invention is temporarily submerged so that the microphone returns to normal operation quickly.

    • An omnidirectionally illuminated helmet emits light along a substantial portion of the helmet surface. An interior cushion is provided for comfort and safety of the wearer's head, while an outer shell is provided for protection from impacts. This outer shell includes a plurality of transparent displays intermingled with opaque sections or regions throughout the entire surface. An electroluminescent light source substantially covers the interior cushion. The outer shell is then placed upon the electroluminescent light source in a manner that aligns the plurality of transparent displays with the light source so that the transparent displays emit light therefrom. Transparent displays are located on the entire hemispherical constructs of the outer shell, including the sides, back, front, and top, so that light is emitted from virtually the entire helmet and can be seen from any vantage point. The margin of safety provided during dusk or night-time hours when vehicles may be approaching is substantially increased by illuminating the wearer's head from all angles.

    • The present invention relates to a clip type light emitter, and in particular to a clip type light emitter capable of enhancing a visual field at night by detachably engaging a clip type light emitter to a leisure cap (including hat) generally used for a mountain climbing or fishing or travel or various sports.     • A surgical garment includes a head gear apparatus for supporting a face shield and shroud. The head gear apparatus includes a helmet that supports a fan assembly, and that defines forward and rear ventilation passageways. The helmet includes a chin bar that defines a centrally located slot, and an upper ledge. The upper edge of the face shield contacts the upper ledge, while the lower edge of the shield includes a tab that extends through the slot.
