    • A system and method for a server to provide an early notification to a target group devices when paging a wireless device during a push-to-talk (PTT) communication. When a wireless device is ready to transmit a PTT communication, a message is sent from the wireless device to a server that then sends an early PING message to a base station while processing a call request message from the wireless device. After processing the call request message, the server sends an announce message to the base station. On receipt of the PING message, the base station sends a paging message to all targeted devices while processing the announce message. The early PING message causes a communication channel to be established between a targeted device and the base station, and the communication channel can then be used by the announce message with less set-up time.

    • A communication system for performing bidirectional communications substantially simultaneously between a telephone line and a radio communication system by using a single-frequency carrier. A base station includes a first radio transceiver and a line connector disposed between the first radio transceiver and the telephone line. A terminal station includes a second radio transceiver. Each of the first and second radio transceivers has a control unit, a transmitter unit including a signal compressor, a synchronizing signal generator and a modulator, and a receiver unit including a signal expander. The control unit sets the line connector to an interconnecting state in response to a connection request signal from the telephone line or the terminal station, while establishes a communication enabling state between the telephone line and the terminal station during a connection processing period. After the communication enabling state has been set up, a speech enabling state is established between the telephone line and the terminal station. The connection processing period is changed over to a speech period after the communication enable state has been established, to thereby allow communication between the telephone line and the terminal station.

    • A land mobile radio communication system has a plurality of cell sites, each of which typically has a plurality of repeaters. The over-the-air radio communications between the cell site repeaters and the mobile radios in the system include both a voice component and a data component. The data component is carried as low-frequency subaudible information. Communication channels are provided between the radio users at each site as well as between users at different sites and between mobile radio users and the public telephone network. Within a cell site, the transmitted and received communications are digitized and passed through serial buses in a time multiplex fashion. The digitized voice is transferred between time slots to provide the required switching function. The system includes operational software to provide direct inward dial telephone number recognition, automatic voice prompts for a user entering a new cell, call priority override, fraud control for radio fleets and a dynamic control channel.
