摘要： A technique is disclosed for use in conjunction with an ISDN communications system for permitting a host computer, that is executing a host session with a user and is connected through the system, to dynamically change an ISDN access path, that connects the user to the host computer and carries the host session therebetween, between a packet switched connection and a circuit switched connection during the occurrence of the session in order to provide the particular connection that is most suited to the communication requirements of a task currently being executed during the session by the host computer. Any such dynamic change of the ISDN access path is invoked by the host computer, does not disrupt the host session and is substantially transparent to the user.

摘要： A video conversation/monitoring system having a remote monitoring function includes a center station and multiple end stations linked through the ISDN network. The center station includes a video conversation/monitoring circuit, video input device, video output device, audio input device, audio output device, system controller, facsimile, and ISDN line terminating unit. Each end station includes a video conversation/monitoring circuit, system controller, first video input device, second video input device, audio input device, audio output device, calling device, first notification device, second notification device, detection device, facsimile, and ISDN line terminating unit. Based on the remote monitoring function of the video input device and the remote control function of the system controller for switching the video input device, various guidance services are accomplished in addition to the video-phonic conversation service. The integrated unit enables easy desk-top installation, the application of the ISDN network reduces the communication cost, and the provision of various state detection devices in the end stations enables image-based monitoring and state monitoring in addition to the conversation.

摘要： In order to back up by an ISDN line two analog lines connected to MODEM of a four wire full duplex type for data transmission and reception, a terminal adapter is connected to a pair of back-up ports. Dial pulse signals delivered through the back-up ports are detected and converted into an ISDN telephone number. A D-channel processor performs the call connection by use of the D-channel signal having the ISDN telephone number and an identifier of a particular one of B-channels. An outgoing analog data from the MODEM through one of the back-up ports is A/D converted and then transmitted on the particular B-channel to the ISDN line. An incoming digital data on the particular B-channel signal received at the terminal adapter is D/A converted and is supplied to the MODEM through the other of the back-up ports. Thus, the back-up is performed by use of a single B-channel on the ISDN line.

The data compression may be executed by the use of an LZ method, a modified LZ method, such as LZW, LZSS, or the like.

摘要： A video conversation/monitoring system, having a remote monitoring function and a remote peripheral device control function in addition to a video-phonic conversation function, includes a center station linked to multiple end stations through an ISDN network. The center station includes a video conversation/monitoring unit, a conversation camera, a monitor screen, a conversation microphone, a conversation speaker, a system controller, a facsimile, and an ISDN line terminating unit. Each end station includes a video conversation/monitoring unit, a system controller, a monitoring camera, a conversation camera, a conversation microphone, a conversation speaker, a sending key set for making calls, a first notification device, a second notification device, a detection device, a facsimile, and an ISDN line terminating unit. Based on the remote monitoring function of the monitoring camera and the remote control function of the system controller for switching between the monitoring camera and the conversation camera, various guidance services are provided in addition to the video-phonic conversation service. Further, the system may be incorporated within an integrated unit which can easily be installed on a desk-top. The ability of the end stations to be adapted to include various state detection devices allows the system to perform image-based and state monitoring in addition to its conversation function.

In its most preferred embodiment, the present invention is an adaptor which permits an ISDN telephone device to exchange digital data with two Switched-56 Access. An ISDN Basic Rate Access interface circuit interfaces with the ISDN telephone device, while two Switched-56 Access interface circuit interfaces with two Switched-56 Access. The adaptor also includes a clock recovery circuit for synchronizing digital data transfers occurring between the ISDN Basic Rate Access interface circuit and the ISDN telephone device with the digital data transfers occurring between the Switched-56 Access interface circuit and the Switched-56 Access. In an alternative embodiment, the clock recovery circuit synchronizes digital data transfers between the ISDN Basic Rate Access interface circuit and the Switched-56 Access interface circuits rather than conversely as in the preferred embodiments so a Switched-56 telephone device may exchange digital data with an ISDN Basic Rate Access.
