摘要： Systems and methods are described for selecting content item identifiers for display. The system may identify a set of content items that are likely to be requested in the future based on a history of content item requests. The system then selects a first plurality of content categories using a category selection neural net and selects a first set of recommended content items for the first plurality of content categories. The system increases a reward score for the first plurality of content categories based on receiving a request for a content item that is included in the first set of recommended content items. The system also decreases the reward score for the first plurality of content categories based on determining that the requested content item is included in the set of content items that are likely to be requested in the future. The neural net is trained based on the reward score of the first plurality of content categories to reinforce reward score maximization. The trained neural net is the used to select content items for display.

摘要： Techniques are described herein for optimizing the presentation of content through obtaining viewership metrics, generating multiple renditions of presentations of content, and selecting optimized renditions of content. One aspect includes associating a request for viewership metrics with a presentation of content, publishing the presentation of content, and receiving information of the viewership metrics associated with the presentation. Another aspect includes copying a presentation of a content item, creating a second presentation of the content item for publishing over one or more channels, and linking the presentation of the content item to the second presentation of the content item, such that a change to one propagates to the other of the presentation of the content item or the second presentation of the content item. In yet another aspect, a content rendition may be selected for presentation based on performance of the rendition out of multiple renditions in an auction.

A machine learning or other model may be trained to determine clusters of content genre values corresponding to genres of content watched by viewers. Clusters are thus associated with popular groupings of content genres viewed by many users. Clusters representing popular groupings of content genres may be selected for new users, and content corresponding to the selected clusters may be recommended to the new users as part of their onboarding process. A sufficient amount of content may be selected to fully populate any content recommendation portion of a new user onboarding page.

In some embodiments, the method includes: receiving an update to a display area within a user interface, wherein the update comprises a plurality of media content items and wherein the display area comprises (i) a first region that is displayed and that is navigable by a user of the user interface and (ii) a second region that is concealed from display and that is not navigable by the user of the user interface; determining, for each of the plurality of media content items, a complementary media content item, thereby obtaining a complementary pair of media content items that includes a first media content item and a second media content item; selecting a first subset of media content items from the plurality of media content items for the first region of the display area, wherein the first subset of media content items includes the first media content item in the complementary pair of media content items; selecting a second subset of media content items from the plurality of media content items for the second region of the display area, wherein the second subset of media content items includes the second media content item in the complementary pair of media content items; causing at least one media content item from the first subset of media content items to be presented in the first region of the display area; determining a user engagement signal from the at least one media content item being presented in the first region of the display area; replacing a third media content item queued for display in the first region of the display area with a fourth media content item from the second subset of media content items, wherein the third media content item is selected based on the user engagement signal and wherein the fourth media content item is the complementary pair corresponding to the third media content item; and causing the fourth media content item to be presented in the first region of the display area.

Generating for play content items not available from a first content provider but available from a second content provider is also contemplated. The content item may be transmitted to the user device via an application associated with the first content provider on the user device, or via an application associated with the second content provider on the user device.
