摘要： A printer prints an image on a sheet. A sensor measures a measurement image printed on the sheet. A controller control the printer to print a plurality of test images and a separator on the sheet. The separator is used to control a measurement timing of an external measurement device. The controller controls the sensor to measures the plurality of test images on the sheet, obtains measurement data related to the plurality of test images. The measurement data is outputted from the external measurement device. The controller generates a conversion condition based on a result of measuring the plurality of test images by the sensor and the obtained measurement data. The conversion condition is used to convert the result of measuring by the sensor into a measurement result of an external measurement device.

Further, the image forming apparatus obtains the length information of the first and the second line drawings. Based on the length information of the first and the second line drawings, a correction condition is set. The image output device outputs an image on a recording medium with a mixture of a plurality of basic colors based on an image data array combining the basic colors. The tone correction value generation unit generates, for each of the basic colors, a tone correction value for correcting a tone characteristic of the basic color by synthesizing a correction array forming a regular matrix based on the reflection characteristic measured by the measurement sensor and the image data array. The tone correction unit corrects an image output by the image output device with the tone correction value.
