摘要： Methods and systems related to supporting real time communications are disclosed. In one type of a real time communication session, prior to an offer and acceptance to perform real time communications, a communication channel may be established between a caller device and a callee device. Information related to addresses of the caller and callee devices can be contained in, or pointed to, by a Universal Resource Locators (URLs) for the caller and callee devices. A network computing device may communicate messages relating to establishing and maintaining the communication channel between the caller and callee devices. In a scenario where the network computing device becomes unavailable, another network computing device can use the URLs and other channel information that may be stored in the database, to handle messages. In one embodiment, messages identify the caller or callee devices, to which each message is directed, using target URLs (caller and callee URLs), which reduces the need to access information related to the intended target.

An example method includes receiving a communication session initiation message from a caller at a source telephone number, the communication session initiation message including a destination telephone number and a direct voicemail feature identifier, determining that the direct voicemail feature identifier indicates that the caller requests that the call be sent to a voicemail mailbox associated with the destination telephone number, and forwarding the call directly to the voicemail mailbox associated with the destination telephone number without ringing the destination telephone number.

摘要： A communication system receives data that does not pertain to an attempted initial establishment of a communication. The communication system uses a new message format under an existing analog Caller ID standard. The communication system inserts the data (which can be in addition to existing Caller ID data) into a Caller ID message that uses the new message format. The communication system then sends the Caller ID message to a communication device/Private Branch Exchange (PBX)/contact center that can interpret the new message format. The communication device/PBX/contact center can use the data to further route the communication to a specific telephone and/or can use the data to display information such as Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates of a cell phone. The data can enhance the capabilities of devices and systems that currently work under the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

The terminal being connected via Internet to a platform (9) for providing multimedia data, a call is transmitted (4) to a call server (5) which blocks the call, then notifies the call event (6) to the platform (9). The latter downloads multimedia data into the terminal (3) when the multimedia data are downloaded. The invention is in particular useful for providing additional services when setting up phone calls.
