摘要： Forwarding Ethernet packets is disclosed, including: receiving an incoming packet; determining a value based at least in part on performing a hash operation on at least a portion of a destination Internet Protocol (IP) address included in the incoming packet; comparing the value against a pre-established look-up table to determine whether a corresponding index value is found, wherein the pre-established look-up table stores index values and corresponding data sets to respective ones of the index values; determining a destination media access control (MAC) address associated with the incoming packet based at least in part on whether the corresponding index value is found in the pre-established look-up table; and forwarding the incoming packet to a virtual machine associated with the determined destination MAC address.

摘要： A packet broker deployed in a visibility fabric may intelligently assign identifiers to data packets that are routed through sequences of one or more network tools for monitoring and/or security purposes. However, in some instances, it may be desirable for data packets the one or more network tools in a load-balanced manner rather than a cascaded manner. Accordingly, the packet broker may initially form a trunk group (i.e., a predefined group of ports that are treated as one port) based on input provided by an administrator. A group of network tools that share a load (i.e., a traffic flow) through trunking facilitated by the packet broker are referred to as a “trunk group” of network tools.

摘要： In one embodiment a method includes receiving a packet including a destination media access control (MAC) address field having a MAC address of a hypervisor and a destination Internet protocol (IP) address field having an IP address of a virtual machine (VM) coupled to the hypervisor. The method further determines a MAC address of the VM using the IP address of the VM and applies the VM MAC address to the destination MAC address field of the packet to forward the packet to the VM.

Examples generally relate to both physical and virtualized computer systems. A computer-implemented method may include mapping a first network interface to each of a plurality of intermediate network interfaces, determining a second network interface to use from the intermediate network interfaces for sending an outbound packet received from the first network interface, updating the outbound packet by replacing a source layer-2 network address of the outbound packet with a layer-2 network address assigned to a mapping between the first network interface and the second network interface, and sending the updated outbound packet using the second network interface.

摘要： A parallel redundancy protocol (PRP) frame is generated at a first electronic device for transmission to a second electronic device over a LAN and a WAN. The PRP frame includes a source MAC address field, packet data, and a redundancy control trailer (RCT). The RCT is compliant with IEC standard 62439-3 and includes a sequence number field, a LAN identifier field, and a frame size field. The source MAC address of the first electronic device and at least one of a sequence number, a LAN identifier and a frame size for the RCT fields of the PRP frame are encoded, and the encoded data is inserted in at least one of the RCT fields of the PRP frame in place of the sequence number, LAN identifier and/or frame size. The PRP frame is transmitted to the second electronic device with the encoded data in the RCT.

摘要： “Multi-tenant awareness” is added to a set of one or more packet processing devices in a Software Defined Network (SDN) having a controller. For each of one or more tenants, information in a table associates network protocol address attributes with an Internet Protocol (IP) address unique to the tenant. The table is associated with a multiple-layer translation layer being managed by the SDN controller. As a data packet traverses the translation layer, network protocol address attributes are translated according to values in the table to enable logical routing of the packet (to a given PPD. This translation occurs dynamically (or “on-the-fly”) as packets are “on route” to their destination. By implementing a multi-layer network address translation (NAT), one layer may be used to translate network protocol address source attributes, while a second layer may be used to translate network protocol address destination attributes.
