    • A peak suppressing device (10) includes: a subtracting unit (11) that subtracts a predetermined threshold from an amplitude value of an input signal and generates a first peak signal; a multiplying unit (12) that multiplies the first peak signal by a weight coefficient and generates a second peak signal; a band limiting filter (13) that limits a band of the second peak signal, and generates a third peak signal; a subtracting unit (14) that subtracts the third peak signal from the input signal; and a weight coefficient generating unit (15) that generates the weight coefficient based on a value, the value being an amplitude value of the first peak signal divided by an amplitude value of a fourth peak signal generated when a convolution arithmetic operation is performed on by using at least a tap coefficient used in a center tap of the band limiting filter (13).

    • Methods and systems for conditioning an orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) signal are disclosed. The OFDM signal may be conditioned prior to transmission by a transmitter in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system operating on a channel with a plurality of subcarriers grouped into subchannels. The OFDM signal may be clipped based on a desired peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) to produce a clipped-off portion of the OFDM signal. The clipped-off portion of the OFDM signal may be transformed into the frequency domain to produce a frequency-domain signal. An in-band spectral shaping mask may be applied to subcarriers or subchannels of the frequency-domain signal within the channel to control the levels of distortion on the individual subcarriers or subchannels. The shaped frequency-domain signal is transformed into the time domain to produce a time-domain signal. A conditioned signal is produced for transmission by subtracting the time-domain signal from the OFDM signal.

    • A method relates generally to data transmission. In such a method, a peak detector detects a signal peak of an input signal exceeding a threshold amplitude. This detecting includes sampling the input signal at a sampling frequency to provide a sampled signal. The sampling frequency is in a range greater than a bandwidth frequency of a carrier signal used for providing the input signal and less than twice the bandwidth frequency. Samples of the sampled signal proximate to the signal peak are interpolated to provide a reconstructed peak. A cancellation pulse is applied by a cancellation pulse generator to the samples to reduce the signal peak. A version of the input signal is output after application of the cancellation pulse.
