摘要： A method of propagating data packets in a network of nodes is disclosed. The method, implemented at one of the nodes, includes: collecting a set of first data packets during a first time period, the set including at least one data packet received from one or more first nodes in the network; obtaining a plurality of encoded data packets, each one of the plurality of encoded data packets being generated by combining two or more first data packets of the set using network coding; determining a mapping of the plurality of encoded data packets and the first data packets of the set to one or more neighbouring nodes connected to the node; and transmitting the plurality of encoded data packets and the first data packets of the set to the one or more neighbouring nodes according to the determined mapping.

A set of encoding vectors is generated based on the chosen sequence of pivot candidate positions, each encoding vector comprising zero valued coefficients for positions within the encoding vector before the pivot candidate position for the encoding vector and a non-zero valued coefficient for at least the pivot candidate position.

摘要： A storage network operates by: issuing read slice requests to storage units of a set of storage units, where the read slice requests identify at least a read threshold number of encoded slices of a set of encoded slices corresponding to a data segment; when less than the read threshold number of encoded slices are received within a time threshold, facilitating receiving a decode threshold number of encoded slices of the set of encoded slices; decoding the decode threshold number of encoded slices to produce recovered encoded data slices, wherein a number of the recovered encoded data slices corresponds to the read threshold number minus a number of the encoded slices received within the time threshold; and outputting the recovered encoded data slices and the encoded slices of the read threshold number of encoded slices received within the time threshold.

摘要： Packet recovery mechanisms for wireless networks, which improve end-to-end (e2e) reliability, are provided. First embodiments include packet retransmission between a receiver and a transmitter, wherein, if the transmitter cannot find a lost packet in its transmission buffer, the transmitter sends a First Sequence Number (FSN) report to the receiver to notify the receiver of a sequence number (SN) of an oldest (acknowledged) packet in the buffer. In response, the receiver does not report lost packets whose SN is older than the FSN. Second embodiments involve using a network coding algorithm to recover lost packets, wherein the transmitter sends a control message to the receiver that includes a coded packet to be recovered and information for decoding the coded packet. The second disclosed method comprises receiving a data packet and an indication of a coding function and parameters used for coding two or more data packets, determining if the received data packet is a coded data packet and if it is, determine if one or more internal buffers comprise a minimum set of data packets for generating the coded data packet, using sequence numbers assigned to each data packet, and if the one or more internal buffers comprise the minimum set of data packets, retrieve the minimum set of data packets from the one or more internal buffers, and decoding the coded data packet using the minimum set of data packets and the coding function and parameters indicated by the indication received.

摘要： A method for execution by one or more computing devices of a massive data ingestion system includes receiving data for storage in the massive data ingestion system. The method further includes storing a data segment of the data in a cache memory of the massive data ingestion system. The method further includes retrieving, based on one or more retrieval parameters, the data segment from the cache memory. The method further includes error encoding, in accordance with error encoding parameters, the data segment to produce a set of encoded data slices, wherein the error encoding parameters include a pillar width number and a decode threshold number, and wherein the decode threshold number is a minimum number of encoded data slices needed to reconstruct the data segment. The method further includes storing the set of encoded data slices in a set of storage units of the massive data ingestion system.

摘要： A method begins with a first group of computing devices of a plurality of computing devices of a storage network receiving data objects having a first data type identifier of a plurality of data type identifiers, where the plurality of data type identifiers correspond to a plurality of data types associated with the data objects. The method continues with the first group of computing devices interpreting the data objects having the first data type identifier to sort, based on sorting criteria the data objects into a first processing category and a second processing category. The method continues with the first group of computing devices error encoding the data objects in the second processing category based on short term storage error encoding parameters to produce pluralities of sets of encoded data slices and sending the pluralities of sets of encoded data slices to storage and execution units for storage therein.
